Anyone tried 215/40-17 tires?

I am running 225/35/18 toyo t1s and yes they rule.

and from what I have been told by RICHIE....who owns a p-5 (fitment is very similar) and runs a tuning/suspension/wheel-tire business.....the widest thing you can use on a 17X7 and not have any rubbing issues is the 215/40/17. Its all he will recommend anyway.

i went out and double checked the tire because i trust the opinion of sir nuke, and yes i am running 215/35/18 with out a rubing problem.sorry about that i was hitting the crack pipe pretty hard this morning.

Yep - I mean the Racing Harts. 215/40-17 sounds good to me. I was thinking about getting Bridgestone S-03 and I don't believe they are available in 205/45-17.
The only thing is that they would be a little bit smaller (overall size) than the 205/45-17 so I suppose the speedometer would read a bit faster than actual speed.

here ya go...a tire size calculator....you put in the stock tire....and the tire you WANT to go to...and it tells you the difference in all the deminsions...AND it will tell you IF and HOW MUCH speedometer error you will have.

ive got P7000's on my car 215/40/17
it may be possible to fit 215/45/17 but i am pretty sure it will rub...
i work at discount tire so if any of you have any questions i can answer just about anything...

OK, this is a pretty non-stock set up but I have run 225/50-15 'R' compound autocross tires on 7x15 rims. I wanted to try the car on autocross tires and I had an old set mounted on a wheels left over from my MX-6 LX. They did not rub, and the car stuck well. I little turn in was lost due to the taller side wall but still better than most cars. I only got 4 runs and my daughter got 3 runs then the tires corded. It was great while it lasted.
hi mazdamp3_18...i am wondering if the tire brand i like isn't in my area, but you do carry them somewhere in other cities or states...will discount tire charge the shipping charge onto my order??? and if i also buy the warrany, what'll happen if i need your store to replace new tires for my car...do i have to wait since they are not in my city???

well if you want tires that they dont have in stock in the store then you will have to pay for shipping.... but if you get the "road hazzard" they will replace the tires for free if you get a blow out, or if you hit a nail and it ruins your tire or anything like that ... unless you have basically no tread...
and i think its about $36... but discount tire can get ANY tire you want... i almost bought the Pzero Rossa's which are competition tires they use on the WRC cars on Tarmac.... they are very hard to find and mo boss knew where to look.... just ask and they can get it.... and when you get a price haggle with them a bit b.c they can beat any price ...

thanks a lot...mazdamp3_18...i think that would be fine if you charged $36 shipping for a set...not only for one tire...
another personal question is why do you choose _18 for your user name...i love the number so much since i was 17 years old...it's more than a lucky number for me...

Does anyone have a pic of the 215/40-45/17 installed on their car. I am thinking about purchasing that size but am wondering how it looks on our ride. Thanks.

By using the T.S.C. you will gain the most sidewall with a 205-55-17. or even the 205-50-17. i mean if you really want to go wide, drop the car 1.6 inches in the front and 1.8 in the back with the direct fit Eibach setup, get spindle/hub 2 inch extenders and for the rims you will will have to get new ones of course, when shopping for size and backspacing, just add 2 inches to the current width and you will have complete lock to lock movement with no rubbing whatsoever.
Or you can just enjoy the mp3.
I truly find it comedic with the way people will go out of their way to drop insane coin and accomplishing minimal gain.
