advice needed (revised)

Hey guys (& gals), I have my boost guage tapped into the vac line to the BPV. I am about to install my MBC and it will tee into the same line at the BPV is teed into. will this be a problem?

Also, I had my guages installed yesterday. the a/f guage didnt work, so I checked it once I got home. the installer hooked it up to the wrong wire (the orange one). so I took it back to him today and had him put it on the blue/pink wire. it then worked fine for about 1/2 an hour then just went out again... well not completely out, it just reads in the lowest lean digit at WOT, then goes blank at all other times... what happend here? did he fry the guage or the o2 sensor? did it over heat the sensor??? I dunno... need some help here!

Do not T the boost gauge with the boost controller.
There are a lot of places to T everything.

I would place everything alone, I would not share anything...but this is just me.

why? I could think that any device may be leaking boost and show you inacurate readings or anything.

yeah.. use joe p's website to show you how to do the MBC...

I used the vacuum lines off the intake manifold to "T" in my boost gauge.. there is a line that is only about 4" long.. it makes a U shape. just tap in there

Thanx guys, I think they did cook the A/F guage. not 100% sure that they didnt cook the O2 sensor though. It reads WAY lean ALL of the time now and I get NO hesitation AT ALL now. this was the first time in my life that I was actualy looking forward to getting the dreaded hesitation. at least then I would know for sure that everything was normal with the engine and O2 sensor. but I keep telling myself that it must be just the guage, I would think that if the O2 was sending bogus signals then it would trip the CEL light. and that I am actually running rich like I am supposed to, and not the lean that it is telling me that I am running... I hope... any one know what that orange wire was? I think that if it was the 12 volt heater wire, then it may just have cooked the guage... I dunno...

I did move the boost guage to the hose near the firewall, then installed the MBC. but hell, thats acting a lil wierd too!!! ok, gears 1 through 3 I am at WOT, the guage jumps all the way to 10-12 psi. I get s surge of power at 10-12 psi, then it just drops down to 5-6 psi and stays there... But gears 4 & 5, it jumps up to 10-12 psi, then only falls back down to 9-10 psi, wich is where I want it to be at full boost all of the time. I checked for boost leak in the hoses but couldnt find any. I did have a bit of trouble with the vac line going to the waste gate. It was so ridged that I could only get it to go half way on the connector of the MBC with out it splitting the hose. So I just left it half way on and used a hose clamp to make sure it was tight... Is this boost creep, or is this normal?

Has anyone else experienced this and what might be the source of the problem? Thanks for any help you can provide!

I have the mbc hooked just like the joep website says and dont have any creep. I do notice on cooler morings that it will pull almost to 15 but once the day warms up it goes back to the 13 i have it set at

First, I doubt your a/f gauge is f---ed. same thing happened to me when i tried to install the gauge at the PCM. no matter what i did with it at the PCM it would only read at the last lean red bar or it would completely vanish. i wired it at the o2 sensor above the turbo and it was and still is fine. also, i do not know why this happened either, maybe someone else could enlighten both of us.

the hesitation probably went away because you unhooked the battery and the PCM reset.

Second, i have no clue about the MBC. i have my boost gauge t-ed in the same spot as you do and have experienced no probs.

Like I said, it did work once put on the right wire, but it only worked for about 1/2 an hour b4 it died. It is hooked up under the hood at the front O2 sensor.

Anyway, I noticed a low noise comming from under the hood after installing the MBC. it kinda sounds like a real low rumble or growl. like when u roll over the rumble strips on the side of the road at low speeds, but its kinda quiet. it is NOT the BPV turkey sound. is this the waste gate? I did notice it a drop in psi when it makes this sound. if it is the waste gate, then why didnt I notice this b4 I installed the MBC?

So they fixed the a/f guage today. the sender wire was too close to a magnet under the hood (dont ask).

Anyway, I am still a little worried about this short growling tone under the hood... Any ideas?

Maybe its the wastegate like you said. Maybe you didnt notice before because you didnt pay attention until installing the MBC and started to listen to any kind of noise that could be caused by any modification.
