5 channel amp

5 channel amp; also speaker questions

do you have to always be using all 5 channels on a 5 channel amp? i was thinking of getting this amp, front speakers, and a sub, and holding off on rear speakers since they arent as important. can i just not use the rear channels on the amp until i get new speakers?

If you are only using the fronts and sub ,why not bridge the fronts and rears channels to send more power to your front speakers .

thanks for the help guys, ill consider the bridging as well. and as long as we're here, ive got a question about speakers as well. im on about a $300 budget for front and rear speakers. i will probably skimp a bit on the rears because they arent as important, but id like to have some decent speakers up front. so if my range is about 200-220 for front speakers, should i go components or not? i know its best to hear the speakers, but the shops around here dont carry many. so id like to hear opinions on whether i should look at components or not. ill be powering them off of a alpine 5 channel, about 40 watts to each side. if im not satisfied with that, i may move up to a jl 300/4. i listen to a lot of punk, classic rock (who, zepplin, pink floyd, etc) and stuff like that. any help would be great, thanks!

If you have a limited budjet ,buy the best you can afford for the front . Later when you can afford the rears buy a mid same as the fronts .

There is also no reason that you can't also power the rear stock speakers from the amp. I would personaly decide to bridge the amp as stated before and power just the front speakers and the sub.

The front speakers are the most important part of the system. Don't skimp there. If you find a component in your price range and like the way they sound better then the coaxles then yes you should get them.
