NOO don't let an MSP be parted out over something like a blown motor, they are too rare and a few of us care about them.

Don't worry... she's not getting parted out... however what do you think they were asking for those engines locally???

MSP1714's block is tops on my list... we are talking details...

I still am looking at a 70K complete engine as an option too... I know what you mean about forged being kind of a waste on mostly stock other items but the car doesn't run at all now... if I build it forged I have the option of more later, but if I don't then I am stuck at the current stuff would have to build another one anyway...

I was at a junkyard in Del Valle that had a bunch of 2.0L FSDE motors in 626s and MX-6s.

How much do you think they would want for one??? Do you think they have this intake manifold on them that I hear people swapping onto their MSP's??? Does that mod require any tuning or tricks??? If you happen to know the name let me know... or perhaps we could meet and go over there sometime to check them out and perhaps pick one out? I like to have ALL options available...

It was at Wrench-A-Part over in Del Valle, yes you can get a 626 Intake Manifold but I would just remove the VTCS on your mani and leave it. I am down to help you find one. You can go forged but that's a LOT more money and unless you plan on running 14+ psi and a bigger turbo it's not really necessary. I mean that considering you still have a basically stock car. If you want to forge it go for it I would if I could afford to.

Update: After a broken exhaust stud and two others that wouldn't come out even with a torch this week... She should be back in my hands tomorrow if I can figure out a way to pay for it!!! Due to some communication issues when I got to the shop to see about the car they were halfway into the engine swap. I wanted to do the swap with Ryan's help to save some $$$ after all the crap that has happened in the last two months. However, after what the shop has gone through (and I saw a lot of it) I might be glad I had them do it since. I couldn't afford SIX MPG in the Cobra to drive to work 5 days a week so maybe it was for the best. I need to run the VIN on the donor car and see if she belonged to anyone on here.

Once she's back hopefully I can get the Forge BPV from Ryan and trade him out for the Torque Solutions stuff and some new NGK wires I have on hand for his car...

Next up later this year start collecting parts for another engine build (forged) just in case... I'm hoping the bearing support plate didn't get destroyed, but I won't know till I get my engine home and start tearing it down... and still trying to see if I can afford the block from here before going NON MSP block... I know they are the same, but for some reason it would feel like dropping a GT engine in a Cobra body... just going the wrong way...

Update tomorrow on ACTUAL condition!!!

the blocks are literally the same minus the oil cooler and the longer pipe for the oil filter (because of the oil cooler, take those two off your blown block).

when my motor blew I got a used block from an auto recycling place in Canada from ebay. after shipping it was around 925. which is still a few hundred cheaper than local junkyards where trying to sell protege motors for.
