LOUD EXPLOSION, SMOKE, BURNING OIL SMELL... I think she's done...

What sucks about this is that I just spent ~$2,000 on the clutch, replaced OEM welded diff a couple months ago... like Veterans Day weekend...

not sure what to do next... I think I'm in shock...

I don't know what I want to do with it yet... this is the first car out of over 34 that I have owned that I ever bought or even wanted to buy brand new... she means a lot to me and I don't know what I could get for her...

As of now she's one of these if I sell for $4,000 I will feel like I am just throwing about $18,000 down the toilet with not much to show because I've had her so long and all the parts I have invested in that I have never even used or opened in some cases...

stay tuned to see what the shop says... I am guessing hole in block, but hard to see in dark on the side of the road with a small flashlight...

Damn I can't believe I'm reading this. I'm all for helping swap the motor, it won't be hard to change out a regular 2.0L block and you will be fine. What happened? How much boost were you running?

out of my msp 1714 has about 60-70k on it

If MSP1714 is willing to sell his you could jump on that. You could also go forged but you would need to spend more on supporting mods to take advantage of it and make the money worth it. I am amazed it blew at stock boost. I was at a junkyard in Del Valle that had a bunch of 2.0L FSDE motors in 626s and MX-6s.
