Z828 is great!!!

with the z919 all the mp3 feature are extreamly slow. it takes forever jsut to go folder to folder. i think the z919 was pretty early mp3 technology, im sure they are much better now. I personally wouldnt buy a cd player without it.

Jumping on an old thread here, but I can't find any specific info with a search. (Yes, I tried first !!)

I seem to have 2 problems with the Z828. It seems to like to skip on the first 1 or 2 tracks of a cd only. Never a problem with anything past that. Also, it sometimes cannot read my mp3 cds.

Is this a 'go get it replaced under warranty' issue, or could there be a simpler solution ?

Thanks

Try to burn you cds at 8x speed, my z828 never skip.

I am more than happy with my z828, even though it might no sounds to best, but it does look good. Friends who sit in my car always think I have spent big bucks of money on the stereo, but in fact, it is stock. What else can you expect from a stock setup???

I will give that a try, but I am getting this with cd's that I actually bought (way back in the days before mp3's). We will see what the dealer says about it I guess.

Thanks !

thats why you all need to go out and get a alpine cda-9807

it looks nice, sounds nice, plays mp3's and wma files, and its not kenwood.

phuk kenwood

oo.. and it lights up a very nice blue at night

the 919 was the first mp3 player for in dash players...the technology has changed for the better...
i sold my 828 the first week i had it and went with the 959...and loving it. might be pulling it and going with the 911dvd touch screen...i am a big kenwood fan

for those of you that love the availability of a lot of music...go with the sirius radio...you will love it

I need to find a good XM-compatible head unit for my car.. I've had a lot of problems with my z919, like..

If the CD's a little scratched, it'll go nuts.. my friend's player can read a CD that's been through hell.. but mine can't.

There have been times when it just WON'T WORK.. the red button at the bottom would flash on and off but the head unit wouldn't power up at all.. and then it would randomly come back.

I dunno.. little s*** like that.

But my dad's got an XM subscription and I'm gonna leech off his account.. because I love that ish.. mmm, channels 80, 81, 82.. all the trance/techno/house I need.

i kept bitchin to my dealer about my z919 and finnally got a z828. Much better and hasnt broke yet. i had 3 z919 previously.

if you are wanting to go with XM you would need to get an Alpine, Sony, or Pioneer...if you want to go with Sirius you can go with Kenwood or Clarion. actually every company has a satilite radio but those are the main brands.
Both have 100 stations, XM is cheaper but has commercials. no commercials with Sirius. I have had them both and currently have Sirius and like it a little better...more music oriented whereas XM is more variety...

Eh. I get picky about sound quality. MP3's are not the best.

You should try mp3 encoded in Lame 3.9x. The sound the best in my opinion. Anything about 192kb encoded in lame sounds close to cd quality IMO. Lame VBR is awesome to but the files can get quite large.

For the best quality I download MPC files though.
