Youngest MS3 owner?

Sorry, but that stuff isn't true. Yes, everyone has a maturity level. And yes, you might be a safe driver. However, kids ARE immature at times - it's just a fact of life. To say you aren't ever is a lie. Why do you need a 260 HP car if you never break the law and speed?

I just can't imagine a parent buying a young guy a very quick car. And yes, I truly believe the SI is too fast for someone my age. Yeah, it's not very "fast", but it's more than a kid needs. It's just an easy way to get into trouble quickly.

My wifey downed my car with her tax money and its under my uncles name because he has really good credit. Paying 450$ a month for myself.

(Turning 21 in July! Damn about time...)

;D

Deceased grandma paid 20k for it, doing the monthly payments myself.

However, my parents are paying for the insurance as I don't have a good job to support myself just yet.

its all about getting on your feet. everyone will get there. get the good job and be able to afford things.

i slept on the MS3 last night and now i want it more than ever. even contemplated selling all my protege stuff i have waiting to be installed and saving all the money accumulated. man i really want this car.lol

oh the old age vs. experience idea. At 17, I would have said the same thing about being a safe, responsible driver and that it didn't matter how fast the car was, I would keep that car under control. Honestly, I can say that I have **knock on wood** never caused an accident and only have one ticket, but I would definitely be lying if I told you that I didn't ever drive in an unsafe manner. Hell at 23, I still rip on my ms3 every now and then even tho I know it is unsafe.

I am pretty sure that there is a reason why insurance for younger people (males especially) is higher than it is for someone in their mid-20's (or 60's like Rotus lol). Statistics aren't synthesized from nothing, they are based on facts. And fact is, despite youth not equaling inexperience, there is a much higher tendancy for young drivers to make mistakes, speed, and get into accidents.

OH, and clos561 - please do not make any more comments about you being a safe driver. I have closed at least 5 of your street racing threads so far this year, so dont try and pull this "responsible driver" BS in here, i know its not true

With all due respect, I've been driving for nearly 4 years. I understand that is nothing compared to allot of you but I've not even come close to an accident yet, The only time I ever "speed" in my MS3 is on empty roads that nobody travels on, their happen to be several near me.
I am very much an intellectual, I'm sure I'll get a ticket at some point in my life but I will not let myself cause an accident because of myself being stupid, If it's circumstances beyond my control then so be it but I will never be in an accident because I did something I shouldn't have done, When I'm in my car and I'm trying to go somewhere that is all I'm doing, I'm in my car and it's business time, It's like carrying a loaded gun except not quite as blatantly dangerous. Cars kill, Speed kills. I refuse to be a statistic.

I think that the first step to being a safe driver is realizing your faults. Thinking that you will never cause or be the main cause of an accident is somewhat naive. If two people are in an accident, more times than not they are BOTH contributory. The fault may lay in one direction, but to say one driver is 100% at fault is not all too common.

Good drivers have bad days. I've only been behind the wheel for about 17 years. In those 17 years I've been in accidents where I was contributory to the outcome. I was not found at fault for the accident, but to say I 100% free of blame would have been innacurate. You can't possibly run through every single scenario in your head with 4 years driving experience let alone 40 years. The unexpected happens. It has nothing to do with one's intellect. It boils down to paying attention and common sense. Sometimes we let those slip. I know I do-

i find it ironic that as i read this post, its swamp's 666th post. This is by far the LEAST devilish post of swamps...go figure

good point tho, i got rearended twice and one was probly just as much my fault as hers, but she got blamed for it legally. sh!t happens, not much you can do to avoid it.

get it..i wasnt planning on buying the red ms3 (i wanted blue) but i tes drove red and drove the car home the same night.

my insurance would be super high. i might try to see if other companies will be lower since i recently paid my last surcharge to the motor vehicle of NJ. so all my points should be gone by now.

gotta check. but i am going to be researching some numbers and since my company is moving 1 mile from my house in sept. it could be a nice upgrade DD. better than driving 36 miles one way now to work. :( ha

Hmm. Youngest owner of a hi-performance FWD car thread? It's like a sneak preview of the obituaries!

I agree. Giving a teen a 200 and something horsepower car is one of the least brilliant things ever.

back in 04 i got into an accident, which i didnt think was my fault. cuz i got cut off by a lady making a left turning going the opposite direction. she started to go. stopped and then tried to squeeze by at the last second to beat the light ( i was going through it as it turned yellow and she was stopped waiting to turn.) so apprently that was a ticket for failure to yield and some other s***. and then i got a 4 pt speeding ticket. 20 over. stupid mistake, so i just took the hit. but that was end of 04, early 05. so i went to the driving class, 3 pts dropped pending a 1 year probation. and i paid 3 years of surcharges ( last one this past month). so i should be clear. or very near it. since i think a point get dropped every year in NJ.

i gotta check. but yea, points suck. but thats all it takes to **** up a day.lol

w/e ...he parents have to have some sort of knowledge that their son isnt a retard behind the wheel to buy the ms3 for him......(birthday)

im pretty lucky with the ticket department as long as i dont get arrested for doing 100 plus...my neighbor works at a law firm and any ticket he can get rid of for 70 bucks...i got a 140 dollar ticket for going 14 over and it cost me 70 dollars..(five-0)
