Yet another gauge install failthread-EGT always on...

Called Prosport today and here's the problem:
The Premium Prosport Gauges (with the 2 molex daisy chain harness plugs) can't be spliced directly to the Performance Prosport Gauge harness (single, large harness). Refer to the diagram way down in the old post to see the fail.

Solution:
Regardless of what the flimsy white paper instructions says, you must wire the EGT red and white wires BOTH to the switched power, and the orange to the panel switch (if you want white/amber).

If you want to MIX Premium Gauges (Peak Memory) with Performance Gauges by SPLICING in order to share the wiring, use the diagram below.

BTW - Link to the Ignition Harness Wiring Diagram.

Thanks to all who posted how-tos on the forum for gauge install - ya got me this far, but now I could use a hand with my gauge install.

I followed the how-tos + lots of searching got me a ignition harness wiring diagram. Used taps, spade connectors and voltmeter to test continuity and voltage for each connection. I daisy-chained the EGT to the boost gauge by splicing the molex'd harness from the boost gauge into the wiring harness for the EGT. Here's my set up...

Problem is - The EGT Gauge stays on all the time - even though the boost gauge works fine. All color modes work fine.

This is what you get when connecting the gauge to the wiring with the ignition off...

Gauges power-up fine in accessory mode.

And this is the working fine daytime mode...

And the working night mode (With the lights switched on)...

And then I turn off the ignition and now the EGT stays on but now it's amber...

Any help would be appreciated.

are you sure you attached the wires correctly?? it seems that the egt guage, wherever you attached power to, is a constant power, and not a switched power source, as the boost guage is.

^^ Indeed - but I did paint it using "Seattle Silver."

BTW - I just ran out and retested the wiring - seems okay.

Red = 12V Constant
Black = Ground
White = 12V Accessory (Switched)
Orange = Dimmer Switch

Pink and Blue = Sensor

maybe try to not use the constant? or just try and hook the wires to the switched.
not sure.. this is a pita for me!

Well - No constant - no operation - totally black. And if I clip the white wire I get Amber, as expected.

Unless anyone has ever seen this i'm gonna guess it's a bad gauge - which sux considering I bought it off a member. I'll call Prosport on Monday - Hopefully i'm being an idiot.

Meanwhile - I guess i'll search around some more. Thx for your help, boostdprotegelx, +1.

that's weird.. cuz you don't really need a constant, once the switched is on, that's constant...

hopefully it works out for you .. sorry it didn't fix it.

Did you test the gauges individually? Hook up the boost by itself and check it to make sure it works, then do the same for the egt...

03.5MSP - Thanks, i'll give it a try in the morning - too tired to rip the console out tonight.
