It's been dynoed. And no, the cone loses power.

The panel filter shouldn't effect the sound of the car enough to be noticed.

You think it's performing better because of the louder & better sound. But it's all in your head :)

The drop-in does make it sound a little deeper, and you can hear the turbo suck a little better.

dumb question but...can i take off my stock air box and just put a cone fiter on the end right by the Air sensor?

panel filter makes a little deeper engine noise, and also has the sucking sound more. The cone filter definately doesn't help at all. I had one and it felt like it was bogging my car down horribly. You could floor it and it would make it hesitate 10 times worse than before "ecu flash"

The only reason it bogs down is because the fan is blowing hot air directly on to it. Get a little creative and you can solve that problem.. It may not look as professional as an Injen setup but makin this cost me absolutely nothing other than the cost of the filter and I help the car breathe a bit better.

t3ase- where did you put the sensor that plugs into the airbox. or can you leave it unluged?

Tease- I think your cone set up looks great! As long as it's out of the path of that fan and taking advantage of the wheel well hole I bet it works excellent. Nice job.

nice lookin setup t3ase! what'd you use to do it? is there a thread that explains what you did? (sorry for not searching)

Look at the orange cable to the right of the cone. It's plugged in.

Yeah, I'm sure I'm losing some power with it even with that placement but it's nowhere near what it would have been without the extension... The sound of an open filter just seems better to me.
