yay another spring install this saturday

I am surprised that they wouldn't do anything with your being just 4k over the warranty. It's not like they just rusted in the last 4k. If they won't do anything call Mazda or get a rep in.

Sucks though

Ouch Oleg....that hurts...especially around the holidays! I agree with Bruce...give Mazda a call and hopefully they can work something out with you.

On a side note, the water is still beading like I just waxed the car yesterday! And we have had a couple of really nice down pours since I was up there. :) It will def. help this winter now that she has a roof over her head as well. Thanks again for the detail and to Bruce too, for helping me buff it out!

Yeah, I think the new plan is to get a 2nd opinion from another dealership. Then maybe try PB-blasting the damn thing for 3 nights straight, give it some electric impact wrench loving and see if that unseizes it.

I will also try the "goodwill repair."

Yeah, so after PB-Blastering the cam for 3 days, I tried breaking that stuff loose with a 28" breaker bar.

Ha.

That s*** is frozen solid. I got a little motion from the bolt side (where bolt and cam are together), but it turns the rubber bushing itself and the cam on the nut side stays put (so the bolt is probably not in one piece anymore).

New arms it is.

well, the arms were replaced today. Expensive, but I did get 10% off. The tech showed me the old arms, well, a piece of it, since they had to cut off the portion that went to the camber cam.

I mentioned to the tech that the May alignment went OK, so why would things seize up over the course of a summer? He said that it was probably because, while lowered, the car was near the target spec and the cam did have a bit of adjustment (which was rotating the bushing). So my stuff must've frozen up over the winters (I bet my front camber was barely touched in all the alignments I've done before lowering, it's mostly the toe that got out of whack). If I went to this dealer in May, they probably would've spotted the problem right then (and it would've been warrantied). And that also means that I didn't break anything in the garage when I tried turning it (it was already broken at least since May).

The car runs great now too.

I also had my engine compression checked and it passed with flying colors (at or above spec) at 55K miles.
