XM Satelite Radio

Hi everyone,
I just picked up my MS6GT on wednesday and am new to the forum. I wanted to get Satelite radio but I did not like the Sirius set up on the cars that I saw. I am not fond of the antenna wire being tucked into the trunk and I also would prefer XM over Sirius.

Is there anyway to easily and neatly hook up an XM Direct unit into our factory Headunit?

Are the hook ups the same with the Sirius unit as they are with the XM unit? There must be something that I am missing because the Sirius unit is $300 from Mazda and the XM Directunit is only $100.

Also, has anyone put on the shark fin antenna? I kinda like the look of it over the RC car looking antenna.

I love the car, and the input from the other forum members has been a huge help in allowing me to justify the decision to buy this car.

Thanks,
Mike

I did try the search button but I was unable to find the information that I am looking for. I would like to plug this...

...into the back of the factory head unit. I know that some of the Audi guys can use either XM or Sirius with their head units. I have a problem with the way the Sirius antenna is attached to the trunk of the car with the antenna wire exposed. It does not look clean or even factory installed for that matter.

Is there a cable that will plug into the XM Direct unit and the factory head unit so that I can use the SAT button on the head unit to control the XM box? Are there any other Ford products that use a similar stereo to the one in our cars, that may happen to offer XM?

Thanks,
Mike

Will not work. The Ford Focus kit/cable might work. This fits into the back of the HU using the CD changer or sat plug in. Most likely not.

I hate our HU unit and I plan on changing it. The kit cost about $130 -$170, Cruthfield includes it though. I plan on getting this one there... Eclipse AVN5500 In-dash DVD/CD player with DVD navigation.
