I like the turkey sound. I'm getting the newer SSQV. We'll see how it does.

haha yeah if it weren't bad for things I wouldn't mind it. Luckily I was able to steal another SSQV from my buddy/next door neighbor, and that one works. At least for now. Fixed my radio too! 2/5 problems done, woohoo (yippy)

Those newer SSQVs look nice. I should have just bought one of those. Mine is adjustable and I have no idea how to adjust it (turn bolt yes, but no idea how much to turn).

Now I just need to get a duck call and affix it to the BOV... sweet...

you will never stop laughing.

Well...I got to work on a few more things today. I rewired the A/C fan to work as the cooling fan. I extended the second O2 sensor wires and got it plugged in. I fabbed up a short intake so I could start the car and check for leaks. The good news is I only had one leak. The bad news is it's the turbo seals. She's blowing a good bit of oil out when she spins up. Looks like the whole thing is coming back out of the car for a while so I can have the turbo rebuilt.

I'm slowly talking myself into parting out the car and selling it at this point. Getting the turbo rebuilt or replaced will cost hundreds of dollars that I don't have right now and probably won't have for several months. I could make enough money off selling the parts and the car to pay it off and have a few grand left over. Then I could start my other two projects currently sitting in the driveway.

This is going to be a long week.

perhaps the recent bad luck w/ parts is a sign that you might be right...sorry about the string of bad luck :(

Oh man that really sucks :( I know your feeling, well, at least kind of. You gotta do what you gotta do.

I'll give your AWRs a good home though if you do go that way (headbang)

Nice try...they would go on the 1st Gen though.

lol one of these days I'll finally just cough up the cash and buy a set of my own... unfortunately that day won't be any time soon

Well...a few more updates on the non-progress I've been making. I took the turbo off the car last night and got it ready to send out today. I shipped it to this company for them to look over and see about fixing the problems.

http://www.boostplanet.com/

I say problems (plural) because I found another one after taking off the S-pipe which was still on the turbo when it was shipped to me. It appears that the wastegate flap in the turbo isn't closing all the way. It's possibly something in the arm on the outside of the turbo that got bent in shipping it to me. My SSQV came in the other day as well.

Any word from that company yet? I wanna see you boosting!

It was fun watching my friend take my car out for a fun run at the last autocross... even though some of the parts were very tight and you'd think it'd bog 2nd gear, it still had mucho torque and would just smoke the crap out of the tires on corner exit! I had tried shifting into first a couple times but 1st gear = insta-spin. The car sounds oh so sexy from outside too :D

Bad news....from the company rebuilding the turbo.

Justin,

I am afraid that I have bad news. The center is heavily damaged on the turbo. The turbine shaft is scored and burned, and the more concerning part is that three of the ball bearings are missing from the turbo. I would HIGHLY recommend changing your oil and looking for these in the oil that you drain out.

(pissed) Time for a new turbo?

Looks like it. I'm waiting for an email back from Deadbolt. Hopefully I'll know more when I get home tonight. At this rate I'll have to back out on going to Nationals this year so I can afford to finish this build.

Bummer :( Who's/what car were you going to drive? It is definitely worth the wait on the boost though, it is a hoot. Take that beast up to a nice racetrack or Deals Gap, blasting uphills is great when you have power. Oh and I bet there are some nice tunnels there to indulge in the great sound!

Man, why'd I post that, flippin' Iowa roads are B-O-R-I-N-G, especially where I'm at. And my dead 195/50 Kumho ASXs are the pinnacle of grip and performance!
