Sure, he could say they were real and be "that guy" and sure I would have given him praise but for all the wrong reasons. When you, I, or the next guy throws money down on an authentic Bride seat or any quality part we are paying for the name yes, but behind that name comes quality, R&D, reliability, and the satisfaction that you're not supporting counterfeit companies.
Oh and if you're gonna pull that it's just a seat crap, might I remind you that a seat is a pretty important safety function in the event of a crash. I would definitively prefer my rear to be in a trial tested Japanese Bride seat rather than some Taiwanese or Canadian knockoff with an unknown history of build quality or safety standards.
