X-box and mods

I'm an X-box idiot. Never had one, never played one. But, I have been thinking of getting one but only if I mod it. I like that it plays divx, svcd, mp3 etc files, and that's the selling point for me.

Can anyone point a X-box idiot in the right direction? Are there dis/advantages to cetain mods? The solderless ones sound great, but is there a catch?

Assume I know nothing......that's not far from the truth anyways.

Yeah, I've been thinking of modding mine. I'm an X-box idiot, and I own one, so hey!! How much are you gonna pay for yours??? I got mine the day it came out, and with 2 games, 2 controllers, and a DVD kit I payed over $700 , I know if I waited I could've got it alot cheaper, but I wanted to get it right away, plus it ws a gift from my grandparent( I ordered it for them), so I can't really complain since I didn't pay a penny.

if you guys have any specific questions I am skilled at the whole x-box mod thing

and dont do solderless, it sucks. way more hassle. the solder ones can be done in 5 minutes and never will cause problems

definitely stay away from solderless, i've seen 3 people mess up their boxes from a stupid pogo pin.

you can mod halo without a chip or any mod, you just use the mech assault and memory card trick and run this little app that changes the cache memory.

What can you do to Halo?
I am a serious Halo player but i don't get into modding.I have played thousands of hours of Halo ,and rergularly have at least 2-3 x boxs and 8+ people playing at any given time.
I want MOD INFO BAD!

What do you mean it makes it an entirely different world?
I thought that halo was one of the only games with no mods and no cheats because it was never "REALLY" comepletely finished upon release?
What is this mechassault and memory card trick?
Is mechassault the game with the giant controller?
If so ,would this be why they stopped making it as it is used as a boot type for modding?
