ok so ive been driving aorund looking at trucks this morning. cars running fine. im getting back into my neighborhood and im almost at the stop sign and all of a sudden the CEL, oil light, and battery light go on all at the same time. i roll to the stop sign and realize the car has died. i start it up again and pull into my garage. pop the hood, check all the connections for the CAI since thats the only thing i touched in the last 6 months, and everything is fine. everythings hooked up, no problems. im so confused. my cousin drove the car yesterday and put some gas in. i think he put in 87. would that cause the problem? i kinda drove it hard, but not really. could bad gas gimme this trouble? it drove fine to my house after the stop sign, for that one block or so. havent touched it yet since then.

Yeah bad gas could kill your engine if you are not careful. It can cause detonation under boost. Premium only is strongly recommended.

Get the CEL code read and find out what happened. If the engine died, I think oil and battery lights are normal to come on?

Sometimes when you let your RPMs drop quickly they seem to keep going down untill they reach zero. It'll be OK.

Oh, was the CEL still there when you started it again? Cause if not then it sounds like it was just yuour engine stallinf, lol. Mine does it all the time, my idle is really bad. There are a billion different things that can affect your idle. If it happens again, you can try one of the myriad common fixes, cleaning the EGR being the first usually.

im gonna take it around the neighborhood right now. it was just weird because i was rolling down the hill and all 3 lights came on at once. i dont know if it died then, but all i know is when i stopped at the stop sign i looked at the rpm's and the needle was at zero. ill update in a minute or two.

ya my car has issues with idle at times, then is stalls.... all 3 lights come on and you lose pwr steering.... i guess i am just used to it since it happens abt twice a day

did you hit a huge bump before?? caus ethat happend to me one time hit a bump all lights came on my car was about to stall but it didn't thank god :)

I had same problem. Just pump some racing fuel and you will be fine. (dance)

Just remove the drain plug on the gas tank and drain the "bad" gas.

Wow. That would be cool if we had one.

i can install one for the low low price of 99.99

they do sell stuff for bad gas, it supposedly dries the water up or somethin.

Happend to me as well after i installed my CAI - went over this bump and the car just stalled in 2nd gear.......found out that the steering and breakes don't really work when you stall......luckily it was low speed and i managed to roll without hitting anything.........i was freaking out since i couldn't find anything loose in the engine bay and the car just started fine after that.

From reading around this forum - you need a good bov with recirculation to prevent s*** like this (from driving around i can tell that this only happens when you accelerate and then suddenly hit the clutch and break because some asswhole infront of you decided to slow down for no reason.....AKA Rush hour traffic ;)

I'll install the Greddy Type RS bov this weekend and see if it helps at all......or makes it worse.

P.S - Sorry for the long thread here....just got excited that i wasn't the only one that it happened to....that and i'm new to the forum
