Does anyone has one for sale? Please let me know how much shipped.
thanks

ther is no stock sub in our cars, there is one in the msp, i think its a kenwood, or RF?

There IS a sub for our cars. In the 03.5 models the car comes with a Pionees (I think) ducted enclosure that sits right in your spare tire well.I'll have to check, cause I think someone wanted to buy mine already, but if not I'll be happy to sell it to you.

yep it sounds like ass, especially with the stock HU

it sounds good if you hook it up with a decent front soundstage. it just fills in the lows for me.

yup, 03.5 has instead of roof racks... id rather have that too...

i wanted to buy one also before, but i heard its not worth it... all the wirring u have to do and it isnt even loud.. just some things to keep in mind.

bump

Yup...it does what it is supposed to do..fill in factory mids and highs. It doesn't have 30 hz drop, but then again, it was a free option. It sounds ok. I wouldn't buy it, but it's not bad.

wasnt trying to be too critical:)

mine sounded real bad when i got it, took a look at it and noticed the previous owner had the phase reversed for some reason so i fixed that

switched to a clarion head unit and that made it sound a little better

it does help fill in the mid bass, but whenever anything below 50hz is needed it farts and starts sounding like crap

it IS the best stock speaker system i have ever had though and if you listen at low volumes it will fill in the mid bass where the stock speakers fall off

if you do find one i wouldnt pay over $50 shipped for it, and make sure you get the harness with it

I just wanted one that can do the job. The previous owner in my mp5 took out the sub and therefore, I am left with only the speakers. when I drive on the freeway, I can barely hear my CDs. I was thinking about replacing the speakers, but then again, I heard the installation is pretty complicated. is this correct? Anyone know the spec for our speakers? I have a 2002 protege 5

i never new there was a p5 2003.5 is the sub visible or is it under the spare, maybe i have a stock sub and didnt even know it?

Just pull the floor cover up and it sits in the spare wheel CAN'T miss it. You will be looking right down at it. It's not hidden or anything.

All I remember is looking at the stickers and some had the sub and some didn't. I made sure mine did. It was a no charge option.

You aren't missing much. The sub fills in the stock setup just fine. It's no 450watt/channel PSB Stratus Gold 30hz wall shaking system, but it works with what is in the car.

It's a free option, what does one expect. It's not bad it's not good. I wouldn't buy it considering that it was a free option. I have a Basslink in my garage that is better, just don't want to lose floor space. That is why the stock sub is agood setup.

IMO, you would be better off building a aftermarket that fits on the jack side of the trunk and put the jack with the tire. Get it nicely molded and flush. That would stomp the stock setup and give you what you want. Stock setup is not for bass heads. It does do rock/classical/jazz etc pretty good though. it fills in. Anyone saying it a pos 1) doesn't have the HU matched with sub, 2) destoyed it already or 3) wants more than it was meant to put out.

The dude who said "can't hear my cd's" is smoking crack, unless the 2002 models came with a headphone setup for speakers.

IMO, forget the stock sub and put something aftermarket in.

nono i already bought myself the Alpine type r sub,

but just knowing there was a free option like that and i never knew about it at the timereally bothers me. cuz ya my car would have been completly stock but at least i'd be able to say i have a sub even before i started mod my car... whatever its all good, i happy with my sound...

Yea I love the stock sub. Maybe you didn't have the bass turned up in the equalizer? Also use a screwdriver and turn the gain knob all the way - that helps too. I'm not a huge bass enthusiast, nor am I a huge "rattle the car like hell" enthusiast, nor am I a "waste all my tailgate space for a sub box" enthusiast. So this works and works well for me. I have no complaints, and I always have people geeking out when they see it. How many cars do you know have a subwoofer mounted onto their spare tire?! Besides, if you don't like this one, Bose makes'em for the TSX...

Attached is a picture for those interested in what it is.
