Once you break the AClines you lose freon . The gas needs to be pumped out with specials equipment before the system is opend

Guys, the refrigerant is pumped all through the pipes. You either need to bleed it off from the ports or get it done somewhere. They will do it for free, because they get free refrigerant.

nice stuff. Do you have any idea when you will be gettin on a dyno Matty? Also, thee are upgraded pully's right, for different psi? How high can one go on this S/C before effeciency is effected?

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DRAIN THE FREON YOURSELF!!! This is very unsafe. Shops will remove it for free. Don't be stupid and in a hurry. You could SERIOUSLY hurt yourself.

I'm really hoping to dyno before christmas (a present to Rism who is going through new underwear with ever new pic!) This all depends on how soon DaveB can get everything back to me and I can get it back in the car. Also my local bender here may not have enough aluminum to bend up the whole system in one piece. If he doesn't have enough I'll have to order a little more but I want to use what he has in stock first.

Vindication, when you ask about efficiency do you mean at which Psi does the blower add so much heat that it's just pumping hot air? I would say never on stock internals. This blower is designed to run about 12-13psi on the stock bearings and belt. The only real heat to be added to the system would be from the compressing of the air but this is a SMALL amount and not like the huge heat gain from a turbo. Think of this supercharger as a belt driven turbo and then think of how big the compressor is. A turbo that is the same size would probably make upwards of 30-35psi where as i'd only run about 12-13psi (15psi max with new internals). It hasn't even begun to get to the point where it huffs hot air

BUT if anyone is worried that the IAT's monitored by the Haltech (yes you can check it with my EMS) are too high I will create a FMIC. This would also be a good idea for people like DaveB who are spending a lot of time on the track in boost a lot. Constantly sitting in boost will raise intake temps faster but it still wont be harmful at all.

I got my A/C system evacuated...so much for it being free though.

uh oh...you piad someone to take your freon so they can sell it to someone else make even more of a profit? how much are you out??

did mine, and the freon make me grow another toe! omfg! lol jk, i just wore a mask in an open area, nothing happened, the freon won't hurt you unless you are sitting there INHALING the fumes in a closed area like a garage, like you are trying to get high...and the only time i have heard of someone getting hurt from this is from a house ac not a car....

No comment.

I got everything out now, but turning without PS is nothing like what I've read. I'm not just talking about from a stop...it's hard ALL THE TIME. I'm wondering if purging all the PS fluid will correct the problem at speed. If not, I think I might have to put the PS back. Where would I get the belt to run just PS with no A/C?

Sorry for the thread jack...

every manufacturer lists a part nuber for their car with no AC....I went to my local quick lube (have friends that work there) and looked up the belt size in their belt book. It should be a 10minute install and you're back to steering again!

i've been driving all this time without my ps and I'm doing ok. I guess after you drive a few Antique mustangs you get used to it.
