Wiper upsizing

My wiper had at least 3/4" clearance left. Do you think your wiper might be reverse mounted?

Or maybe they changed the wipers as a part of their revisions. Who knows. It wipes decently so I'm not planning on changing it any time soon...

rain-x blows. Aquapel is the best. Lasts for much longer and doesn't F' up the wipers like rain-x. As for wipers, bosch or the ones in the yellow box, can't remember the brand. That's what I use.

this is a good discussion about brands of wiper blades and value of their function!

so I have a question:

who makes the blades (wiper blade holder) that are available in a silver paint finish? my neighbor has a pair on his silver Ford Probe GT and I like it. all i can find is black but i know the silver would look good.

it would be repeating the same color scheme (black/silver) as a silver protege's side view mirrors. i know i could just paint the stock blades but the stock black would show through after silver paint wears at the joints. where can I find some silver blades? anybody know?

i've never had a problem with my wipers and rain-x. well, granted, in arizona, the wipers last on average 6-8 months anyway, but still. what happened with your blades and rain-x? i love rain-x.

The rain-x seemed to dissolve the blades. Every time I used it on a few different cars. The wipers would chatter across the windshield and leave black marks where they park and chattered. It was wierd. The aquapel I got lasts for like two or more years and works much better than rain-x.

aquapel, huh? i'll try that next after i use up this bottle of rain-x. thanks for the heads up!

I've never seen it in stores. I got it a Jiffy Lube. For a discount of course. It does work great. Even when it's dry out, gets rid of little scratches and stuff.

I put Rain-X on my side windows and mirrors but not the windshield.
I tried put Rain-X on my old car windshield, it leaves a weird thin layer of stuff on my windshield every time the wiper blades make a pass.

The RainX washer fluid works very well also. If you want a good set of wipers then anything that specifies Teflon is the way to go. They're not the cheapest, but they aren't as expensive as the Bosch's, Piaa's, etc.

I decided to go with Bosch this morning (cheaper than teflon blades for me), and I got mixed results with flurries and road spray to contend with. The blades may need "breaking in", but here is what happened so far: the driver side cleared amazingly well, but the passenger side was missing by about 1" at the tip. After some driving, I noticed that the middle of the passenger side wiper was leaving streaks! This happened with cheap Canadian Tire and Wal-Mart wipers, but now with Bosch?! (bang)
I had my windshield replaced recently, and I'm wondering if there is a slight dip in the actual windshield, and no problem with the wipers at all. Has anyone ever experienced this?

Nah. it's just the cold temps that reduces the flexibility of the blade to conform to the arc of the windshield. That's why as someone mentioned, upsizing is not a good idea especially when temps are around the freezing point.

I have heard Bosch suck, bring them back.

Go to Canadian Tire and get the reflex brand of blades. They are all season and incredibly effective. They sell for about $18 - $23 a piece depending on size.

For the rear I used a CT brand that was 15 inch - $9.

no, don't go michelins. i had them and they died fast. i now have the rain-x brand (similar to the piaa's, except for half the cost) and they are SWEET! be sure to rain-x all your windows and mirrors and you'll be amazed. the rain-x brand i found at walmart for $8 a pop. i think pep boys might sell them too. either them or autozone. i can't remember. but if you have neither of the stores available to you, then get the cheapest ones you can find and rain-x your windows. the michelins are a waste of money.

I ditto that too. Love RainX

I am pretty anal about my windows. Windex them at least twice a week and clean my blades also. RainX is a wonderful thing.

no need for rain-x just wax your windows and mirrors, it does the same thing

i use meguires cleaner wax on my car and windows

waxing the windsheild helps, but after a few times of using the wipers it just rubs away the wax just like it does to the rain-x, but waxing the rest of the windows and the side mirrors works great and lasts until you wax again

I found that waxing the windshield causes the wipers to skip more.

I don't know about wiper sizes, but I'd recommend some rain-x too. That stuff rocks so much. I was driving in a heavy downpour last night, and wipers were hardly necessary. I left them off for a while, and it made a negligable difference.

Waxing your windows is just as good and does wonders. Bugs stick less too.

I'm running 22 and 24" an the only problem I run into is that our pisser nozzels suck ass and I don't get enough fluid to the bottom drivers side of the window.

Just adjust them using a sewing needle....I got mine to point exactly where I need them to. You can also have fun and aim them sideways at other cars too :)
