I live in Minnesota so snow is obviously a factor here. The car Im concerned with is a MP3. It has Dunlop SP9000 204/45/ZR17's as it's stock tires. Who has experience riding these in snow. If not satisfied with there, what all season's would fit, or what is a good tire for winter driving. Also I heard the Dunlops were soft, who makes a harder tire, or just a longer lasting tire for this car?

I used to have those tires but replaced them because they wore out after a year and a half. to answer your question, the tires didnt handle at all in the snow. they could not grip at all whasoever. if your going to purchase tires, pirelli makes a 205/45/17 that are either all season tires, or snow tires. check tirerack.com for the specs. also, tirerack has some special winter package. 4 15 inch steel wheel and 4 blizzak ws-50 tires for about $500.

oh by the way, the wheel and tire package are listed for the protege ES 2.0 and Protege 5, not the MP3, but i think they will fit the MP3.

ignore last post, i just checked the website. i just actually ordered snow tires and 15 steel wheels. just click on winter package and put your car in, whether its protege ES, P5, or MP3, it doesnt matter, they all have the same choices.

Bud, there are a lot of other tires out there for regular driving other than the Dunlop that will perform nicely....but....I would highly recommend the purchase of actual snow tires for your area of the US along with some steelies....any ALL SEASON you buy would definately decrease your handling capabilities during the NON-snowy time you have up there.....get a good set of performance tires for that time and mount them on your racing hearts or whatever wheels you are running now.
