That truly sucks. I've had my P5 for not even 4 months and I just got my 2nd rock chip in the windshield. At this point I hope I get a stress crack so I can get the windshield replaced.
This rock chip thing is ridiculous. I've had another car for 5 years now and it doesn't have any rock chips in the windshield! Why does the P5 seem to be so prone to it?

Yeah, the windshields suck. I replaced mine in Dec. and it got 3 chips from bird crap 3 days after it was installed. To boot they (diamond auto glass) installed it wrong and half the windshield wasn't sealed.
Kinda wierd that you keep getting stress cracks. Usually its from hard driving and stiff suspension. I'm surprised I haven't gotten any! Guess it's thoose wonderful VA roads!

Mine just did it for the first time I am not very happy. Who did you have replace it?
Dealers here aren't buying the stess crack theory. they are saying that if the glass has any sign of a stoce chip., even on the opposite side to the crack, they won't cover it.
I have a speck of a chip on the same line that formed the crack, and they won't warranty my windshield.
I have to cough up the $400 for a new one.

two weeks after I bought my 5 a rock kicked up by a damn subaru(car I had just traded in suspisciously(bang) ) put a huge crack in my windshield...I heard it hit, didnt see the crack at first, as it was way at the bottom, and then a few seconds later as I was driving the thing cracked all the way across the whole windshield as I watched in horror...figured it was due to the below zero temps in Boston at the time...got it replaced, and the second one gota big rock chip about two weeks after it was put in....I couldnt believe it...at least the chip hasnt gotten any bigger, and its down in the corner of the windshield, but I still say the windshields on these things suck....good thing is Massachusetts auto insurance pays for two free windshields per year......must be why Im paying 1500 a year with a perfect driving record at 34 yrs old.....(upbum)

i was driving down the 805 in San Diego CA and a rig blew a tire... i swerved to avoid this mess cuz i was right on the side be the tire that blew. so when i swerved to the next lane, i ended up behind a lifted 4x4. as soon as i thought the worst was over, the 4x4 kicks up this huge rock! it hits my carbon fiber hood right over my driverside headlight (and takes a HUGE chip outta it! dammit!!!) then it continues right to my windshield!! WTF?!? so my hood is jacked, and my windshield looks like it has a frickin' bullet hole in it!! ... it just happened, and i havent had a chance to call the dealership.. totally sucks and im pissd

I had a rock hit about 1/2 inch above the bottom of the window. Hit so hard that it actually cracked. I thought that initially it was a stress fracture as I couldn't see where the rock had hit. Eventually after looking carefully at the edge, I found the rock chip. Luckily insurance covers it. Sucky thing is two days after getting a new windshield I got a nice rock chip in it!

I had my windshield replaced last week for $190. Took one chip to create a 24+ inch crack on the driverside. It seems like s*** happens to my new (well 1.5 years) car all the time. Hell my 1994 Corolla had never had anything happen to it except for replacing the alternator like about 6 times. The windshield on my Corolla looks real good too. Wow I just realized that my Toyota is 10 years old now, and still drives well. I hope that my Mazda will last as long as my Toyota.

OMG.. my windshield just got a crack in it at some point last night or this morning.. I drove it Saturday night around midnight and not until about 3 or so today.. when I noticed a HUGE foot long crack on my drivers side. It starts on the edge and goes about 4 inches or so, then curves down for a few more inches! I'm really pissed because this is will be my 4th windshield! (including the original one)
