Looks like someone needed to upgrade his tires then. A stock auto protege is about as slow as a kia rio, I'm shocked it could even spin the tires.
And yes, every car has a windshield, but they do vary in thickness. Case in point, the Mazdaspeed Protege has thinner glass (weight savings) than the rest of the Proteges. All it takes to crack those for the dozens of unlucky people who have is doing a lot of agressive driving (track or autocross.. not straight lines, this is a mazda we're talking about after all).
And btw coming into this section of the forum to say how NOT great the Protege5 is .. greeeeat idea troll.
I bought the car because it has amazing styling, awesome functionality, is good on gas (I bet that's one thing you miss about your little P5.. even naturally aspirated soobies don't get too great gas mileage, viscous 4wd system likely the culprit), and is by far the best handling car in it's class. It is for that reason that I do still consider the car great.
