Windshield protection film questions

I was thinking to put windshield protection film for my CX-70, because i had an experience with that little tiny chip before and it bugged me.

My question is, anyone ever do this to your car? Is it really worth it? My Mazda dealership is not doing this kind of work. So i have no clue about this and i would really like to know what the pro and cons. And how long this film will last? And how much the average cost?

Update: I did install this windshield protection film today and I am quite happy. It took the installer about 1.5 hours. Cost $400 including labor.

This film will last 1-5 years depending on how much time you spend on the road.

Now I have peace of mind not worrying about rock chips...
