Will I rub?

I have the chance to get some Mazdaspeed3 18's and I just put the full MSP suspension on my car, I'm wondering if I will rub with this setup if I put the wheels on my car. Anyone with some knowledge on this would be helpful.

The drop is about 3/4" in the front and 7/8" in the rear, I have a 3 finger gap in the front and 2 finger gap in the rear on factory 16's.

no you shouldnt rub. i have ms3 rims on msp struts and an eibach pro kit. i have no rubbing. but youll probably have to run a 215/35 to clear the strut. thats the setup i have.

what size tires u gona run on those speed3 tires?
right now i have 215/45/17's and im rubbing like a B in the rear.
give ur car another week for the struts and springs to settle into the p5 and then check ur drop again.

my next setup will be 215/40/17's and that should solve the rubbing issues otherwise i'll have to roll fenders.
and to prevent rubbin on those speed3s ur gona have to go 35 series.

he will have to run a 35. i believe from the looking around ive done he'll rub the strut. not so much the fenders. i want to try a 40. but dont want to be screwed with new tires that rub all the time.

im running 45s and im rubbing fenders and struts and its 17's...so im pretty sure sure with the wider tires it'll def rub the fenders as well as the strut.

well he will be able to run the 215...just not a 45 series sidewall. hed be gaining height not width. im on 215/35/18 and get no rubbing whatsoever. if i ran a 40 or higher id hit the strut i believe without rubbing the fenders. but havent looked it over to much to see if a bigger sidewall would clear or not.

ohh ok, i just think he'll have it worse since hes running the MSP stock setup.
which tends to sag pretty hardcore since the springs were meant for sedan rear weight lowering not the hatch.

David, the suspension doesn't have to break in since it came used. BTW, the sagging doesn't happen if you use the stock MSP Tokico Blues, since the perch is higher.

I don't think I will rub, the suspension is a very subtle drop.

worst case, if you do rub a tire on the strut, you can get a small 3 or 5mm spacer and will still likely have clearance on the fender lip... unless you go wider AND taller, which IMO would be foolish.

I'm on 225/40/18. And no issues. I just can't cary more then 2 people at one time.if you roll your fenders you can go really low with 18's

No I have about 3/8 inch gap. But that gap will never change. But you have to roll the fenders if you wanna go low or carry anymore then 50 pounds in the rear

The tires are 215/45/18's.

Those tires will not fit w/o some modifications done even then you will be pushing it. Do you happen to know the offset of the MS3 wheels? IIRC they are 7.5" wide and have a fairly high offset (not sure what it is though) so my guess is you will want to invest in those spacers.

I would have to use those tires as long as I could, what spacers would you guys recommend to help eliminate perch rub?

best bet, pick up a pair in 3, 5, and 8mm. experiment til you find what works where. I'm hoping to stuff a 225/50/R16 tire under my MSP on a 16x8, +50 offset using 3mm spacers. Here are the results from the calculator I use between the stock MSP setup, my planned setup, and yours:

MSP stock:
215/45/R17
55 offset
7"width

Mine:
225/50/R16
47 overall offset
8" width

Leaves slightly more clearance on suspension, 13mm closer to fender

yours
215/45/R18
55 offset
7" width
same suspension clearance
same fender clearance
13mm larger in diameter

basically if you have 13mmof vertical clearance over the stock MSP setup from the strut, you'll be fine..

i don't know your stock setup specs off hand if you give me em, I'll check it, either that or you can go to wheelmaster.com

one thing to keep in mind here is the MSP strut has the raised perch to clear the tires... if you're running a different strut, you will have less clearance.

As the tread wears down the gap between the perch and the tire will get bigger.your 215/45 shouldn't be much bigger then my 225/40. So if there a lil worn they will fit. Cause my 225/40 are brand new

Well damn....the width is 7"....I could have sworn it was 7.5". Are you sure the offset is 55 Carl....I have seen others posting 52.5?

And costcommando....more info on what you are running and the specs. I am curious.
