msp computer stuff?
can i just drop a motor in from a regular protege from years 2001 to 2003?
cause its the same motor?
so it should be a easy swap. take out blown motor put in 2003 motor from reg protege.
right?

if not please explain.

thanks.

yes... for the thousandth time this month. just switch over all the obvious stuff (girdle, oil cooler, exhaust mani, etc)

+2 swap the valve cover and engine cover if you want to keep the msp engine cover.

well no one talks to me in any of my threads so i have to make a new one for people to answer my questions.
it is a communtity and you here to help the dumbasses like me.
sorry im such a hassle.

Hey. The MSP engine and the standard 2.0 liter protege engine is the same. See if you can find a low milage one. All you need to do is swap the turbo items off your old engine.

I am not trying to be rude here but this is the 4th thread I see on this in one month. I just dont believe people dont know how to use the search function on here. A quick and easy search would have told you otherwise from the countless threads from other members just coming on here without searching. Yes this is a community thats here to assist anyone that needs help but if one cant help themselves first, then I dont know what to say.......

If I have a chance, I will make a thread to hopefully become a sticky for all people with MSP's that have a blown engine to see what is compatible with what and what needs to be changed over. Well you know what, there is an MSP install and parts guide of what is needed for the Swap. It should be obvious after that.

boost - im not mad at you personally. i see you contribute, but i see you contribute enough that you should know this info would be easy to find.

im not a big car guy. i love the msp more than any car out there.
dont trash on me for trying to keep another one on the road.
yall are concerned more with someone parting out their msp more.
mine is messed up and i need help to fix it.
the search dont give me the answers im looking for, i read then i ask my question to make sure cause some of the threads are old and i want to make sure they are still the same. is that a bad or good thing?
to me its good that a noob with swapping a motor has a place to ask. im going to ask the questions i need to so i dont have to go back and do it again.
i want to do this right the first time.

and dark angle if you do right up a sticky that would be great, it would have saved me a bunch of time and yall some headaches. and would be a great sticky for the other noobs that blow or mess up a motor, cause you know it will get asked again.

i am sorry for making a bunch of threads but people just ignore mine or change the whole subject and dont help me out but help other people in my thread. but again im sorry im just looking for help.

if theres some people that say its ok for me to PM them and ask my questions i would rather do that so i dont get jumped on for asking a simple question that people could just answer and live the rest of their day in piece.

NOW: Today i plan on ordering a motor for the car will the one that cost $700.08 work for me?
i want to get this ordered so i can have my car running before the end of this month.

what are some help full hints you all can give me with changing a motor in a msp?

i have never changed a motor before but my friend changed 3 motors in jeeps so hes going to help me and teach me along the way.
i plan on taking the ticking motor (bad one in the car right now) and having it gone through real good and built for later use.

We totally understand where you are coming from but you have to see it from other peoples points of view. Many will say its ok to send a PM or even a visitor message as well. Its not that anyone is trying to discourage anyone from asking its just this is a topic that has been beat to the death over and over again.

I personally am glad you really are interested in your MSP and not willing to just give up. Its a great car as long as you take car of it.

Anyways, make sure you know what motor you are buying. Where are you thinking about getting the motor? Make sure to ask questions like what year its from and how many miles if not posted. To be on the safe side get a 2.0 from a 2001 and above Protege/Protege 5 because then for sure you know it has the forged crank and will be the same thing used in the MSP. Auto or Manual does not make a difference. Just be sure to swap all the MSP specific parts over to the new donor block and that is to include the MBSP ( Main Bearing Support Plate ) or girdle as some refer to it. Its the bottom piece thats between the oil pan and the engine block.

My donor block is from a 2002 Protege5 that a very good friend let me have for free from when he replaced his motor. The motor needed work like a rebuilt crank, honing and all but nothing a little elbow grease and the right searching for parts to get her going wont cure. I went completely forged with new parts so the boom wont happen to me as it did to the previous owner of the MSP. I plan on having fun with this car so making it last is my goal.

the one that cost 700.08

or what one would you suggest? im looking at the distance closest to me so shipping wont cost as much. i have 900 to spend with shipping included

what should i replace while im changing the motor out in the engine bay while we have the motor out?
my car has 79,000 miles on it.

after i get the car running again, what are the things i should do? get a tune? idk where in bluefield i could get that done. no mazda dealerships around so im hoping i dont.

93,000 is high without knowing the condition of the motor. Are they able to test the compression on it? Any warranties? I would replace the timing belt and maybe the water pump while it is out because although it can be done on the car, its a heck of a lot easier out of the car to do.

If your MSP is stock, you are fine the way it is. A lot of people have said to also upgrade the Wastegate Actuator as well. Check the condition of your turbo, make sure its ok. Replace the seals that have been removed.

that sounds easy enough.
i dont know if they can. they say they hand turn it or something like that. (heres where i need the help)
i dont want to buy a bad motor.
thats why im asking here too.
