Yup, 2 weeks into owning the vehicle the wife backs up into a tree and the resulting damage is a cracked right reflector, damage rear bumper and a crack just above the bumper in the in the painted part of the rear near the hatch. I can replace the reflector pretty easy (1 screw) and I will leave the bumper on the way it is hardly noticeable but the crack in the plastic will drive me crazy...is the plastic fixable?? I do have the oem touch up paint any suggestions? Also who offers the best prices online for parts?

P.S. I dont want to report it to insurance since this is a new insurance company...only a month old and I have a $1000 deductible.

Thanks.

Depending on how much work you want to do I'd say you could either patch it with a flexible filler then touch up paint (easy) or take it off the car, plastic weld a repair, smooth and have it sprayed. Actually if you take it to a body shop first they can give you an estimate to do the latter as that is basically what they would do short of replacing the bumper. Plastic welding is not hard at all but prep and spray certainly is and you are at risk of making the repair look worse than the original injury. I would be inclined to try fix #1 and see if I could live with it before proceeding with #2.

damn, i would first try some simple cover up with touch up paint. if that doesnt work, then use body filler and sand the area down, the reapply the touch up paint.

good luck!

I guarantee you anything you do personally to repair this type of damage will be visible on the same scale or even worse. This type of damage should be left to a professional, whether it is a body shop or a touch-up /dent removal expert.

Any good shop will simply replace the apron. Any repair on a urethane part will eventually crack again, and will never look right before that.
