You can go pretty wide, but the 55 series tire is way too BIG for your car.

OEM tires are 73.1 inches in circumference and the 215/55's are 79.5 inches. 9% too big around, and your speedo will be off more than 5 mph, not to mention that the big change in gearing will slow both your acceleration and brakeing a good bit.

i know my sizes. 215 are not for 8.5"ers. my 94 rx7 had 8" rims and the safest and biggest tires u could put on were 245's dont know what ur talking about.

i know 205s fit for sure. ummm whats the size of the rims?

but i know that the diameter will be fvcked up for sure. wider
with 50 series already means bigger diameter. but these tires are wider and bigger series. hahah i guess i dont want to look like a 4x4 out there.:D

Reread WHAT he said.

He didn't say that 215's were for 8.5 inch rims - He said the 215 mm tire was almost 8.5 inches wide, and he's right on. 215mm is 8.464 inches

Accroding to Tire Rack...

The widest you can go on stock rims is 205/45-16. Not only are you limited to the width of the tire by the rim width, you also have to figure on clearing suspension parts. Jim
