why was it that we couldnt put a regular 2.0ES catback system in our mp3s?

They say that because of the rear valance the way it is lower and cut for a specific pipe, it wouldn't fit, plus there might be some mods to the factory location for the muffler hanger. My guess would be that you could buy a aftermarket exhaust for the 2.0 es and just switch the tips, and relocate the hanger. probably cost $40 for the welding.

whats up jaq, hows the MHP doing?
just wondering man, lets suppose i get the borla or racing beat catback, u r telling me to use the midpipe but change the exhaust?

MHP doing fine , I had to get some black foam stick on pads to keep the pipe from rubbing against the battery case, and used some double sided sticky tape to keep the silicon from moving and exposing the pipe to hit the metal.
And as far as reusing the pipe, I was not suggesting that, considdering it is probably smaller than the tubing they use for the aftermarket systems. But see first, if it is the same, than use the tip and the pipe leading to the tip, if not, than the tip that comes with the kit might fit. But I think you still might have to relocate the hanger. The only reason that I am considering replacing the exhaust is because they did not give us a full cat back system, they just simply bolted the muffler onto our existing small tubing. That makes the muffler pointless. Air flows as fast as its slowest point. You can change you whole exhaust, but if you leave one small tube, than it will flow that slow. I think those kits will fits with some mods. the only reason why they are not listed as a kit for our car is because they only list kits that are true bolt on, not ones that have to be modified.

You can buy an after-market exhaust for the MP3. You'll have to have the muffler modified slightly, as in, the pipe from the exhaust going into the muffler. A pipe shop can bend a piece of pipe the same shape as th stock MP3 exhaust, in the size of the after-market pipe. And then, if you want, you have the tip changed out.

Sounds easy enough...

Yep.

There's no limit to what can be done with exhaust. The right shops should be able to make you a custom exhaust taylored to whatever car you want.

Just make sure you find a shop that uses mandrel-bend and not crushed-bend. Mandrel is the same width consistantly throughout turns and angles in the pipe. Crushed thins out when it makes angles.

Hope this helps.
