why is there a street racing section?

Should The Street Racing section be removed?

I just saw a new thread and I was really surprised to see that here. With so many kids getting killed racing on the street, why even have a section to brag about it? So you drove at a high rate of speed, endangering many lives, just to show you are faster?

Let's remove that thread, and only talk about track racing. Leave the street racing to other forums.

well mine are from a road course...

plus, you assume all the racing done on the street is endangering innocent people. if you don't like street racing, don't go to that section. just because a memeber or two have died from street racing or unsafe driving doesn't mean others can't share their stories.

My vote is for 'No'. Keep the forum there.

Yes, street racing is dangerous. Yes, I wish everybody 'took it to the track'. But we all know that will never happen.

This forum is not a parental unit. Having the section only serves to keep the forum more organized -- otherwise the actual TRACK racing section would be filled with street racing stories.

IMO, if you don't want to hear about it, then don't visit that forum.

That said, I will link this thread in the staff forum for further discussion.

No, we are not parents of anyone. It should be a policy of the forum not to have a thread to brag about illegal and dangerious, and deadly activity.

I'm pretty sure he wasn't racing... stop exploiting the poor kid's death.

Street racing is retarded, and having a section on here just endorses it. Get rid of it, and if people post street racing stories in the track section, delete the threads.

Think about this; There's a 16 year old kid, he just got his first car and he's thinking about racing it on the streets. So he comes onto MSProtege.com, a forum with a lot of knowlegable people who have a lot of experience with all forms of racing, to see what they think about street racing. Now if he logged on and found that there is an entire section devoted just to street racing, don't you think that might put the message into his head that it's okay?

If someone decides to participate in an illegal activity that they otherwise wouldn't because of what a web forum says or contains, they're just an idiot.

There are numerous threads regarding the use of illegal substances but do you think anyone says to themselves "hey, I guess acid isn't that bad since msprotege.com members trip all the time!"

I realize your point about people, especially younger people being impressionable. But I don't think anyone here is trying to convince anyone else to act unsafely. Its just the opposite IMO, there are LOTS of people like yourself promoting safe driving habits.

i voted get rid of it. i agree that the streets aren't the place for racing and people shouldn't have an outlet for their stupidity here. however, my main reason for voting to get rid of it is the stories in there are terrible and stupid. nothing but people trying to prove their car is fastar and hoping to get recognition for it. just a worthless forum

With all due respect (and I do respect you) it's not your place to call anyone an idiot. What if somebody came on here after having his friends b**** at him for weeks to come down to the local street races, and he came onto a forum that he trusts and respects to get advice about what to do, and seeing that section makes him change his mind and go with his friends. Who cares how many people see it and are not effected, it's that one kid who we need to think about, because how crappy would you feel, how horrible would all of us feel, if his parents loggedo n one day and told us that he died last night in a form of racing that kills thousands of teenagers every year and which this forum endorses!

Mazda Forums does not endorse street racing.

Having a section for people to post in is hardly 'endorsement'.

The forum does not endorse street racing, according to the sticky in the section. However, it allows people to discuss "street kills" (insert irony here).

I completely disagree. I honestly dont care what kind of disclaimers are stickied in the section or any other legal bulls*** that the admins have to go through to avoid being sued, this forum has an entire section devoted purely to street racing, and, all legaleze set aside, that is an endorsement, as well as an affirmation of the fact that it is ok to street race. If we really don't endorse it, then it needs to be removed. And so what if it is? So we remove it, what possible harm could that cause? A few misplaced threads? Big freakin woop! What's more important, the possible death of an innocent kid, or the mods having to clean up 5 more OT threads per month?

will see what the mods do. It is up to them to decide if they want that image to be displayed to the 23000 members of the forum that "it is illegal, here is where you talk about it, but we do nto agree with it. "
