Why did Mazda use the color green for interior lighting on the 5?

except for the 5 which uses green? not that it's bad or anything however the red interior lighting and 3 round gauges from the 3s dash board would have looked real sweet in the 5. Anyone else notice this?

Are you talking about dashboard lights? Center stack? I thought you meant dome lights at first.

I don't know why, but I'm glad they used the color they did on our '06. I know that reds and especially blues are kind of popular/trendy, but they're much harder to read in the dark (especially the blues). I find our dashboard lighting scheme much easier to read in the dark than the other colors on the market.

Not only did I notice it, but I really prefer the red colored dash.

I suspect the green color has to do with the less sporty nature of the Mazda5 versus the other Mazda cars.

I've even considered doing a red dash mod with Mazda3 parts. If I knew that the large display that contains the radio and HVAC information was swappable with the one from the Mazda3, I would already have begun the red conversion.

I already have an aftermarket stereo installed that has a red or green selectable display. It is set to green for the 5.

I did not notice the color scheme on the mz5 2006. the green makes it less noticeable. makes me focus on my driving. Afterall, one does not need to read the numbers in the dash. The gauges are analog so even peripheral vision is enough to tell me what the current speed is for example.
