why 250 WHP

I am jsut wondering why everyone says the fs is only good to make 250 WHP ? Has anyone gone beyond that and blown up? If so, was the car properly tuned, with full stand alone, upgraded injectors, properly Monitored ? Was the timing map programmed with the increase of boost ? Were the fuel maps also programmed accordingly ?

It just dumbfounds me that everyone says this, but no concrete info, that I have found, to prove this. I believe this engine could handle 275-300 WHP, and easily 16-20 LBS of boost, with proper tuning.

I say this for the simple fact that Howell automotive, a well known Neon tuning company, has a frikin 1st gen SOHC, pumping 320+ WHP on 20 lbs of boost. That damn engine is build weaker then the FS, and handles this daily.

It is ALL about how the car is built. Lets see what I get. :D

I think 250whp is very possible, im not sure how long the stock rod will hold up. 250whp is my goal.

i think its beause there is not alot of testing on the protege, and until there is every one is going to be careful. there was also a 550+ hp Ziel motorsports/JIC magic drag protege in super street Feb 2002mag, it runs a serrano racing intake manifold, DTA engine managment, and several engine upgrades such as Saenz rods, and webcam cams thats all it has in the mag.

Spool's MP3 is at 263hp if I'm not mistaken.

if i remember correctly it would be more if they could do 3rd gear pulls but the clutch was bad.

Yup, that was with the Microtech ECU. Thats what Im talkin bout mang. Proper tuning, and internals will survive. :D Just dont know how long lol.

im just dying to save up the money. i had money saved up but im getting screwed. i might have to go to the bbb. tell me how this ******* makes sense:

i refinance my car, the credit union calls mazda credit for payoff and makes check out in that amount.

i call mazda and tell them to stop my elec deduction but they try to say they cant stop it, so my account is debited 361 as usual on the first. so im like whatever ill get a check for 360 for overpaying. guess how much the check was????

19 MOTHERFUCKING DOLLARS!!! what kind of math are those ******* idiots using???????????

/rant

As soon as my Microtech gets here (possibly this week), My goal is 300 at the wheels, 345 at the crank, I guess we will see if anything blows up.

I am running a larger turbo then Terry is in his MP3, and a very sticky clutch.

matt, you might have had a very small clause in very fine print in your contract with mazda that stated to the effect that you will be charged a fee for early payoff.

I am not sure if I understand what you mean by "no turbo!"...but that engine is very very much so turbocharged...;)

well i can tell you for a fact.. basically stock msp, running 14-16 psi will cause problems..(started knocking second day of nopi) i ran it approximately 30 mins at 14 - 16 psi doing between 120-130 or higher. trust me it happened to me.. and im going to be rebuilding my engine to the fullest.. putting about 4 - 6 grand into it more than likely, by the time parts and labour is done.

HiBoost P5 => 269whp, working on E6X to reach 300whp stock bottom

DeckedoutMP5 w/HiBoost turbo => 270whp (larger injectors)

Pirana HiBoost turbo => 240whp stock

but what kind of tuning where you using? 14-16psi should be ok with excellent gas and excellent tuning, in which case no detonation would occur...Do you have a full stand alone?...tuning is always the key for maximum boost obtainable with whatever internals...

s*** though, half a year ago most of the tech gurus on the pclub stated that 12psi would be the highest the FS's bottem end and the G-15M-R could handle...that has been easily exceeded

all i was getting at is that stock internals basically stock,, injen intake and boost controller and joe p reducer and defensor at 14-16 psi.. the motor couldn't handle it..

sure with tuning its very possible that it could handle more.. who knows.. im just giving a headsup to people that 14-16 without proper tuning results in this...

thanx for the correction;)

all i can say is I WANT THAT INTAKE MANIFOLD!!!!! when are we ever going to get a replacement for our stock one?????? YOU AFTERMARKET PPL LISTEN TO ME!!!!! hehehehe

300whp would be rather easy with a T04E turbo. considering what the nissan ppl get out of the SR20DET, with enough money the FS could handle 600whp
