Wht to do.....

its been a week or so now........no more PO300 codes,
it has a perfect idle, runs great!
I still have a check engine light....its the 421 catalyst 1 something,
if i clear it it just comes back. I'll just leave it for now.
Its smooth enuff for me.
Should i just throw a header on it and do the spark plug fouler on rear cat?
the car is 100% stock!

That's good to hear. I am still battling my cars idle issue (bang).

If you don't have emmisions that you have to worry about, putting a header on would be one way to do it, that's what I did. Or you could just replace the cat, but I would do it soon, it's reading bad for a reason, because the cat is bad.

get a $1 non fouler for the moment and slap it on the second O2 sensor.

this way if a CEL pops up you'll know it's unlikely the p421 code.

still ticking

i've put about 800 miles on it now........still has the CEL on,
runs perfect, about 28 mpg mixed. Gonna do the fouler tonite....
the light kind of bugs me now. Its a good little car, its got 129K
unsure if timing belt has been done, may do that......
I appreciate the help, don't appreciate the smartass comments though.
I was bashing my car...not your car...intelligence always shows! (jerkit)

If anything bad happens you guys will be the first ones i whine too......

there is no O2 sensor on rear cat just 2, pre and post on the pre cat. anti foul on the second one shuts the light off

edit; i had a coil pack go too, was a random occurance. then finally failed. replaced both coils and ran fine. but if u get a missfire for even short while it dumps too much raw fuel into pre cat and melts it down. u may lose some power because it clogs the second cat up a bit.
random or intermittant probs r usually electrical at first. then get worse cuz of failure
