ok well im gonna get my speed three as soon as i get my income tax check back and i live in an apartment complex and i was wondering if anyone uses a cor cover and if so rate its performance.. keeping car dry / weather resistance/ fitment etc... i want to keep the black mica paint as nice as possible

i am not a big car cover fan on vehicles that are driven on a regular basis. The problem is dust. unless you make sure the dust is off of the car before putting the car cover on you are going to get scratches. you will see them the most on a black car too. i just dont think its a good idea

understandable. i still prefer to have snow on it then the car cover though. the real question that you have to ask yourself is how often are you driving it? is it going to be a daily driver? if it is, then i promise you that you will use the car cover for about a month and get so sick of putting it on and taking it off all the time that you will just never use it. spend the 100+ dollars that you would spend on a quality car cover elsewhere

true... but i dont want snow and ice sitting on it

that was my same logic when I bought a car cover....but do you know how fun it is to a)try to remove frozen car cover or b) put a snow-covered, wet, carcover back IN your car for even a few days straight? It blows. Car covers are like treadmills...good intentions, but at the end of the day its just another piece of crap that you will sell at a garage sale.

yea thats what i was kinda thinking.. ill probably just get it for use in the winter and use the s*** out of my california duster in the spring and fall.. i just wanted to get some input

A) Don't get a black car
B) As stated, if you do, don't get a car cover for it
C) As stated, covering a daily driven car is a bad idea.
D) Wax/seal your car often instead and you'll be good. Wash it weekly you'll be good.

Pics of my last 2 cars, before I got the Mazdaspeed3 (swapped MR2 turbo under the cover, MP3 with Mazdaspeed Protege wheels)

I had thought about this at my house because we pretty much have a mountain attached to our driveway and I was worried about rocks/branches falling... You won't use it though, it is a real PITA to take on and off. We are about to move into a new complex and I'm just going to spend on the money on an after market alarm, I'm paranoid about my car being stolen.

i would also recommend not using a california duster, although it has good intentions it leaves fine marring.

best way to prevent swirls and marring is proper wash techniques and products/tools.

I found some decent ones from empire. This cover was a replacement cover for a custom cover that cost three times as much and started leaking water and collecting dust under the cover in less than a year. My Empire cover is 4 months old, has survived numerous strong thunderstorms and seering Texas sun, and so far is exceeding my expectations. I have 3 cars under cover, soon the other two will be covered by Empire.

I have a MS3 and accidentally bought an Genuine MZ3 Car cover. It fits, but the back is a an inch short. Anyway, anybody wants to buy my car cover? It perfectly fits hatch MZ3s. PM me if interested.
