Maxx Mazda said:You do not need the bearing, only when installing these gears into an actual 323. Also, 4th is unchanged. Just go with 5th and 3rd. The part numbers are correct.
kyle's protege5 said:what you mean 4th is unchanged? i thought the point of all of this was to get the 3rd and 4th gears cause they were wider and stronger.
Maxx Mazda said:3rd and 5th... 4th may or may not be stronger, but the ratio is the same.
GTXWGN said:if you guys are keen and think these 3rds are decent would you wanna buy my stash of them i have heaps of GTX 3rd gears here , i have the no stripe 1.23 ratio and the 1 stripe 1.31 ratio, the 1.31 is the GTX ratio stock, however the 1.23 is the same quality and part just a logner ratio ......these gears are all very good condition used parts....but ill sell them for say 80 US a pair , i also have 5th gear in .717
i have checked and have 4 sets of gtx 3rd in 1.23 , 1 set in 1.31
2 sets of 4th in 0.914
2 sets of 5th in 0.717
i can send the lot over in one package and do a deal if you like they are just spares i use to rebuild peoples boxes here in my workshop
I just set up a name here because I have some questions. I have a 1993 Mx6 V6. I have over 8 grand in the motor.. and now im trying to build tranny. its all apart next to me ( im in the GM shop) - apprentice technician. I have the 1989 323 GTX AWD gears ( 3rd) part numbers
gc02-17-230B & GC02-17-305B
Why is the Counter REv Gear diffrent part number. ?
Will I need the 1988 3rd gear.. I thought the 1988 and the 1989 were the same??
What should I do about my 4th gear, all this talk and it sounds like 4th might not be stronger than my Mx6 tranny 4th.. I know 3rd is more beeft.. but is 4th? should I order 4th before I put this back together?
thanks info fast is appru.
I'm looking to improve the strength of my gearset (mainly on 3rd). In stock form, I've got gears with 38 & 29 teeth. Ideally, I'd like to be around 36 & 28 to have a similar ratio. The GTX gearset (from your photos) has 37 & ??(it would have to be 30 to make the 1.23 ratio). Can anyone confirm that?
Is it possible to mix & match gears (such as gtx primary & protege secondary) within the model years to achieve a desirable gear ratio?
Thanks,
Dave
Whats the part # for the gtx gears?
