Who Is Running Gtx Gears? Results? Ideas? Hp?

the noise would kill it for me. I want the MSP to be obnoxious and fun, but tranny whine doesnt factor into that equation in my mind.

Also, are these gears straight cut? Straight cut gears are UBER strong, but I don't know anyone that would even consider running them in a street car.

I was told they are only slightly louder than the stock. They are not straight cut gears.

i was saying that..guess it was misunderstood.
Yeah I was agreeing!!(2thumbs)

Well I'm shooting for around 350WHP with my GTX gears, so if I break them, I can still afford 2 more sets before I equal the cost of the Hiboost ones.

Yeah but your problem will ultimately never be solved,"IF" they break. I hope for your sake they don't. You already bought them so might as well try them out. They held in CWILLs car, but then again his car has been down more than it's ever been running. Superproteges car is not only an 11sec car at the track on slicks, but also a daily driver, also only has 280WHP. They broke after a couple passes at the track. GTX from my point of view is not the reliable way. That's for my application at least.

He said a few weeks ago that they are not ready yet because of the racing season or something like that...availability is limited.

I was on the phone yesterday with his brother. I will call him again and ask him how long it would take to get them once ordered.

Just installed my GTX gears last night. Only took like 15mins to physically press them on and off. Easy as pie. Also swapped out he 3/4 synchros for the revised ones, and put the tranny back together.

hey guys , i think the gtx gear sets are really a waste of time , the only reason they last longer is because they are new...order stock new ones and im sure they will last aswell. ive tried GTX gearsets and they blow to bits regardless...heres a pick of my 4th blowing to bits on the dyno.....u can see my straight cut 3rd on the shaft behind it , it hasnt blown and i drag race alot, before that i blew many thirds..

also the ratios for the gears you want are

5th gear 1 fat centre stripe 0.717:1 - this is the gtx/626 part. i get 2700rpm at 60mph. i have a couple of these spare 2nd hand.if anyones keen

4th gear no stripe 0.970:1
4th gear 1 center stripe 1.030:1
4th gear 2 stripes 0.914:1

i have 3 sets of the .914 2nd hand i am running them now i was running the .97:1 ratio but that blew up , also in 4th using the .97:1 i could get 200kph in 4th at end of the 1/4 mile at 7500rpm....my final drive is 4.105:1 , you can use the 3.805:1 ratio aswell that the b6t trannies have for even more top end but thats just silly

Sounds bad man, as I said before here are people with over 600whp running them, others are on the 400whp range and breaking stock gears, and when changing to GTX, they start having fun!

I mean, they are not indestructible, the 600+whp can run about 25 runs, when with stock probably 5 or less!

Oh, absolutely the GTX gears are not invincible but they can take more than the stockers can for sure. If I'm making 600WHP I'm sure gears will be the least of my worries lol!

Yea, i can see it being a bigger deal if you dragged the car, which is don't plan on doing. I think it would be pretty easy to blow something with all of the tranny shock from launches and the additional load from running slicks.

How much HP you running GTXWGN?

That's totally it. Keep from shock loading the transmission and you'll be alright. If all you do is drag, run a heavy shockproof gear oil. It's great for dragging, but horse piss for a street car.

Yeah shock is a big deal, but when have you NOT placed load on the tranny? Of course the gears wont last as long under drag racing, but street driving can also put stress on the gears. I don't think you built your car to baby it? Those that race on the streets or shift quicker than normal from 2nd to 3rd can also brake gears. Those are also moments that put the tranny on a lot of stress. I broke mine with much less power than the usual power monsters (196whp) and I ran the track maybe 15-20(actual runs) times with street tires. It's a lot to do with the driver as well, I wanna say I suck.

For those that like a lot of dragracing, will do better with a small nitrous shot. Its proven that will put less stress on the gears with turbo nitrous since you can baby the trans and still keep power up.

I have never broken a gear and I was always around the 220-250whp, lots of drag racing, street abuse, went on 2 blown engines...and the trans still in one piece. Of course, the stickiest tires were NItto Drags, no slicks. So...most of that stress will slip on the ground.

I also had my doubts and was skeptical about the gtx gears...the are the same as the stock gears, only color change and probably the oil lube cut, but after years of being used here, and getting good feedback, i said, **** it, im doing it.

notethe stock gears in my box look identical to gtx gears , your ones above in the pics look way different so mayeb there is an upgrade for you but i dont see any for myself...im runnin about 325hp at the wheels on a dyno dynamics dyno which i think is about 20% less than what u guys normally use

There is a visible difference in the GTX gears compared to stock.
What other differences you saw on them besides color and the small cut for lubrication?
Is there any chance you have a pic of both stock and gtx?

Here you go.
