Who Is Running Gtx Gears? Results? Ideas? Hp?

MAx how much did it end up costing you? I took my car to a tranny shop and they changed first gear and after they finished my 3rd and 4th synchros would grind. He said it will be ok and of course my tranny is broke yet again.

Gears were $250USD from dealer, for all 4 pieces. I got the revised 1-2 synchros as well. Why in hell would you have your first gear changed? 1 and 2 on the G15M-R are about twice as thick as the 3,4,5 gearset, and not many break them.

So just to recap this, for a complete GTX swap ordered from the dealer w/o synchros i'll need:

3rd Gear:
Primary: GC02-17-230B
Secondary: G501-17-305B
Bearing: GC02-17-305B

4th Gear:
Primary: G401-17-303A
Secondary: G402-17-210A

5th Gear:
Primary:G561-17-611A
Secondary:G522-17-308

Just wanted to verify before i go to the dealer.

Also, i second the opinion of not needing to modify the 1st gear. Unless there is a hell of a lot of tranny shock, i can't imagine there ever being enough traction in 1st or even 2nd gear with 350+hp to stress it to the point of breaking.

You do not need the bearing, only when installing these gears into an actual 323. Also, 4th is unchanged. Just go with 5th and 3rd. The part numbers are correct.

Sorry bought the threadjack, but Highboost is selling their gears now. They are made for racing and made to take the abuse. I can get complete spec info if there are interested parties.

Probably the GTX gears...

For the Protege? Yes I want info and am very interested! Can Hiboost post here himself and let us know the deal?

No these are custom made, not GTX gears. I considerd GTX gears but superprotege broke through them too. Considering I broke a welded LSD, and just broke my 3rd gear on the stock tranny(6PSI). I wont be taking any shortcuts race gears for me. Anyone else interested?

Ya!! (^^) Cost, specs? pics? :)

I just got off the phone with TBK Performance which is the sister company to Highboost.

The gears the offer are 3rd 4th and 5th sets. They cost $420 for each set of gears. These are by no means GTX gears and are custom made to hold 600HP. If there are interested parties to do a custom gear ratio this can be done at no additional charge.

that's actually not THAT expensive....

^ Considering they are custom made and there is no need to do anything besides order them, I don't think they are that expensive AT ALL.

I agree, thats a decent price. But we need pics and other stuff showing theres support to their 600hp claim. Is there a major design difference that allows 600hp? What is the "magic" factor?

I should hope fore $1260 they do custom ratios! So each gear is $210 and I jsut got the whole GTX set (3rd, 4th and 5th) for $400...

Nice info, thanks for that but a very pricey option... Cheaper still than the MPI tranny I guess. Are the gears shot-peened?

i was saying that..guess it was misunderstood.

Sorry I haven't quoted you guys, the forum works weird in school. Just got cussed out by some guy next to me when I was on the phone about "this is a library!". I told him to keep it down I was on the phone. HAH, he just got up and walked away.

I don't know if they are shot peened. I don't know what the magic to them is and I don't think they would give it out either. The proof is in this thread. Post#22

Click me!!

This was just in testing. Internally the tranny's are the same since I know it was a 3 they are testing them in. As far as price I know what you mean. But think of it as an Insurance policy, you wont have to worry about it anymore once it's done. Specially for daily driving, and after seeing Superproteges last set of GTX gears....yeah it looked more like a circle ring then a gear.

Well I'm shooting for around 350WHP with my GTX gears, so if I break them, I can still afford 2 more sets before I equal the cost of the Hiboost ones.

Also, are these gears straight cut? Straight cut gears are UBER strong, but I don't know anyone that would even consider running them in a street car.
