I was wondering if anyone here actually makes flames out of their exhaust and not some stupid sparkplug in the tail pipe bs.

I see all these race cars spit'n flames and was wondering about this.

Are you guys just running real rich or not running a muffler?? I'm curious what it takes get a true flame out of the exhaust. and what that does to the car. It seems to be a very common thing in race cars to blow flames.

Not that I would ever want flames I'm just curious.

Typcially you need to be catless. The cat will burn any unburnt fuel, thus not letting it flame. Straight through Exhaust are also a good idea, the easier it is for the fuel to get to the back of the car the better for flame.

it uses more fuel too cause it has to run richer to get all that unburnt fuel out the tip. if your not using the spark plug kit.

That's what I was thinking. Since the MSP already runs rich wouldn't a catless one be making flames stock?

I bet you could, i mean teh flames are just lil backfires. its not like soon as u hit boost its going to flame. I havent tried it but i think u have to hit the gas and let off (basically cause a backfire)

I have the catless corksport exhaust on my MSP and still running really rich but no flames :(
lots of back fire during down shifting but no actual flames.

I have yet to even get a backfire, I'm running a stock cat back but I have a catless midpipe and according to my MPG I'm running real rich

+1 I wasnt sure if I did or not but I had a buddy drive behind me at night and he saw them. Kinda makes me nervous if a cops behind me.

not me.. makes me wanna do it more.. haha.. though.. come to think of it.. i get pulled over more in my CTS then my MSP

i get flames with my open down pipe. but its not every time i shift or anything. its kinda when ever it feels like it. also in rainy weather it seems like i get alot more backfires.

my car will regularly pop fireballs out the tailpipe. My revlimiter is a soft spark cut at 7200, one quick bounce off of that after being in boost yields a very nice blue and orange flame.

n.e ways, show off^^^lol. my msp throw some flames with the vibrant with the cat still install after installing the new gt28rs. n it was good flames but i got piss off b/c my mechanic did it but i couldn't do it. Untill i took the cat off i race a acura type S and while he was reading my MSP emblems from behind he notice flames when i shift. He told me this at the red light where he cought up

At the track with a few gallons of 105 mixed in the tank, my car spits flames. Even with a cat, resonator and muffler

haha nice! post a video. Ive only seen one ms miata and I spank its ass. BUt they are sweet!
