whistling noise on the...

i know the difference between that noise but even when i go and let go off the gas the noise is still there, when i let the car just roll in neutral i can still hear it

wait is it a whining sound or a whistling sound? If I am in gear with the clutch in and am rolling I hear a whining sound, but I think that is normal. That has been in every manual car I have owned so far...

hmm. I can hear my turbo easily 1st-3rd and can also hear my Injen CAI. have heard the spoolin since i got the car so idk.. do you have a video camera or anything to use so we could hear what you hear?

Hopefully the sound is loud enough so we can hear it on the audio.

If you say you can hear it even when you're off the gas, I'll retract my guess that it's intake whistle. Does it change pitch when you let off the gas, or does it tend to follow the speed of the car, or the speed of the motor? Or is it pretty constant?

Do you have an aftermarket intake? Even on NA cars, you can get a fair amount of whistle sound.

Check and see if the noise gets louder when you accelerate fast Vs. Slow.

Also, do you hear it when you are just rolling in nutral. If you only hear it when you are on the Gas pedal, then its your Intake. Might be getting dirty, and needs to be changed.

When was the last time you changed the filter?

I just recently got my back MSP up and running after sitting for 2 years with tranny problems (several broken bearings in the transmission were broken, but since been replaced).

This is my 4th day driving the car, and today I just got the noise in the exact manner that special--k describes above. I do have an Injen CAI, and from sitting around for 2 years, may have become dirty (?) enough to produce a noise while I accelerate only. It is louder in the first 2 gears, and gets quieter as I go. Hopefully, it's just a dirty intake... it took so long to get it back up and running...

I would without a doubt clean your filter and prolly your MAF sensor too. as well as all your other tuneup stuff. 2 years is a long time to be sitting

No smoke, all other tune up stuff taken care of, still pulls like a mf.

Strange, I did not attempt to clean it, drove it to work in Simi this morning and the noise was not present whatsoever.

We shall see...

i had the same exact problem. Everyone was giving different answers.

Those the whistle get louder as you build boost?

On my car, there no was whistle when i didn't boost, but as the turbo started to spool, the whistle got louder.

It was my intake. It had a loose line and was leaking. It was the line leading from the bpv to the intake.
