I had that issue where after like 4k esp in 2nd and 3rd gear my turbo sounded real loud like a bottle rocket. It was intermittant so i figured its not right. I brought it into the dealer and they replaced my turbo. I dont hear it now. Which is cool so if you have it you might want to have it looked at under warranty. they didnt say HOW it failed, even though i asked, they just said it failed.

Yay new turbo! so when i get upgrade mine, whoever buys my stock msp setup will have a pretty damn new turbo!! Yay.

10,100 and no mods at the moment. im working on some custom stuff plus im debating blowing my warranty or waiting lol

I have noticed that lately my turbo sounds harsh when it whistles, not a clear whistle like it used to be. I havent determined exactly how it occurs, but it does seem to me that its in the lower gears on acceleration. Do you have more details on your issue?

well if i say.. get on it in 2nd gear, after 4k it goes weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee pretty loud. like its a tea kettle goin off, or a bottle rocket, and in 3rd after 4k it would go weeeeee .. we ... weeeee we. it wasnt every time.

Was there a harsh edge to it?Not a clean and clear noise like it should be? Was it a different noise than the usual whistle altogether? I just want to compare symptoms. My turbo assembly was coming away from the manifold after a stud broke off earlier this year. THey told me that the turbo was fine but I drove it around for about a month with it like that. Maybe I'm just paranoid. :)

its not a nice whistle like spool, its sounds like if there wasnt enough oil on a shaft spinning at 130,000 rpm :)

i do but that might be beacuse they rented me a bonneville for 3 days :(

or this ones boost is a little higher. ive heard they vary.

w00t. ANY details you could give me from the dealer diagnosis would be much appreciated(per your work invoice)! as in what EXACTLY the dealer stated regarding the replacement. like yours, mine is sparatic and I don't want that to be grounds for dismissal of a problem by my dealer.

actually i asked them what it was cause theres no diagnosis on invoice just what they ordered. and they said the turbo is bad. i asked why, he said its bad. lol i guess he didnt want to tell me.

sounded like oil starved bearing to me but i didnt get to see the turbo so i have no idea.

Looks like I may take mine in again then. I have the same thing at about 300-3500 rpm, even under light load. The thing is that it's a brand new turbo (about 3k miles on it).
