Whining Transmission Replacement

Once again, misuse of the term "recall". This refers to a TSB (technic service bulletin), the purpose of which is to assist dealers in diagnosis and repair of possible problems areas which Mazda is aware of. Recalls are reserved for safety-related problems and are mandated by the NTSB. This is not a recall!

Yes, definitely not a recall. Those are generally issued only for widespread safety or emissions issues. There are TSB's for all kinds of things from bearing noise in this case to torn seat back pockets (yes, really). Many times they're issued just as a way for service personnel to address common customer questions or adjustments. My choice of site for this is here: http://oemdtc.com/Tag/cx-5

Your vehicle may exhibit some or none of what's listed there, as guided by the manufacturing date and environment the vehicle operates.

Geez.. some of you people have a pickle sooooo far up your asses..

yes, not a recall by any means, just copy and posting stuff i see online to inform some of the good people here who would actually see past the semantics and say thanks instead..

Seems like there's more whining than just the transmission. (spin)

Good catch Paris1, thank you for correcting yet another misinforming post.

A recall means that a great number of people will be having their transmissions replaced. It's not semantics, it's wildly incorrect...

You should get the facts straight if you're going to put stuff like that on this forum, especially as a new member. It's a known fact that Mazda powertrains are some of the most reliable out there.

True. And this is like the 3rd time this has been posted...

Some of you may not like the term RECALL, and say its only for safety related issues.
Well what do you think to Mazda referring to a potential brake failure as a CAMPAIGN, because that's what they do in the UK.

Before my last service I phoned to ask if my car had any potential problems that I should know about, I had already found out via the forum and another that numerous owners of cars produced around before Sept 2 2014 was having to have the diesel brake vacuum pump changed due to possible failure.

Mazda CS told me I had 2 campaigns one to check the pump, and another a remap for erratic idle. Both of which could be carried out at my upcoming service.

Well my brake Vacuum was so out of tolerance that the dealer said it was unsafe to drive!!!
It spent a week in the garage waiting for a spare to be sourced.

The entire scenario didn't fill me with confidence to be honest.
