Which exhaust?

OK, despite my "no mods" claim, I am sellling my Type 3 aircooled VWs and going to take a slice of the cash to improve the sound on my MS6. The only question is, which exhaust?

Price is an issue to an extent, so the wonderful sounding set sold by corksport at $1200 is out. I had a stainless exhaust on my old Jetta, and there was always a vibration in the rear during takeoff which was very annoying. I've read about the CP-E tips rattling in the back skirt, so I'm a bit leery of that. Has anyone tried the Magnaflow catback set?

If I'm correct, they all mostly have a mellow throaty sound until you stomp on it, right? That's the sort of sound the Tektonics/DynaMax combo I had for the Jetta put out -- very easy on the ears in the car and when idling, but punch it and the thing roared... I don't want anything bratty or too loud, but I want to actually HEAR this rockin' engine, ya know? I'm surprised Mazda didn't tune this thing just a little louder.

Thoughts? And TIA.

exhaust rattling

Yea I have the Cpe dual exhaust rattle.. pain in the ass.. where did you find that info. I am trying to fix this problem.

for the CS exhaust r u talking about a full TBE with thier DP and resonated midpipe for 1200? just their CBE is only 800 i believe. i have the magnaflow and the sound is great but its def quiet compared to the rest of them and power gains are minimal. if u dont align the tips perfect it will also melt the bumper but i havent had a problems yet (fake tips get removed from stock location). the CS is the best sounding in my opinion.

I put a custom on mine.. 3 inch straight with a cat delete with 2.5inch borla pro-xs mufflers its sounds very deep not to loud.... no sound clips yet i'm waiting for someone with a good quality video/ audio camera. I think it sounds as good or better than any of the stainless I've heard. Its just reg steel painted with high heat paint. It cost me $481.00 total. If you have any local shops that do exhaust you shaould be able to stay in this price range.

I have the CS cat-back system and I am very happy with the sound. I have a CAI, Forged Bypass and a Protege Garage test pipe and eveyone that has heard my car said it sounds great. Even the guys who have the big V-8s muscle said my car sound like it has some something in it if you know what I mean. The only tiny downfall or something I have to get used to is the drone inside the car can be a little much at times but you do get used to it and it is a deeper sound for sure. The CS is a true 3" and tips fit perfeftly with no problem. The MagnaFlow is only a 2.5" system so performance gains arent as much. I bought the CS system from Protege Garage and Ken for $700

Call Ken or go to the Protege Garage site. He has very good deals and is more then willing to help you out.

Does no one have the GHL exhaust? I'm looking at switching that out with my Magnaflow system. It definitely sounds better, to me at least. The Magnaflow sounds good, just wish it had some more low tones.

Little less "wah" and more rumble. May have to do with the fact that it's a 2.5 inch system like someone above said, I dunno.
