Which BOV is best?

I have a 2003 MSP and am looking to replace the blow off valve on it. I do not want the recirculated for 2 reasons, 1 i hear air can get pushed back into the turbo the opposite way messing up the turbo, and i would also like the pssshh sound as well. I am a student so i am looking to spend 200 or less. Which ones are good which ones suck. Also if anyone has audio clips if they could post them that would be great. Thanks.

well for 200 I think the only option you have is a Forge BOV since it slides onto the stock intercooler piping. Im pretty sure every other make requires hard pipes and a flange that usually run over 200 alone after a flange is on there + the cost of BOV. Forge offers both an upgraded BPV or a BOV.

see how it fits on my finger. it basically just slides over the same part as the stock BPV would.

Mine is the loudest. Turbo xs type h rfl. Thats about all i can say about it.

Not necessarily true. I know of a few people on the boards that have made a custom flange on the stock rubber pipes and put a greddy or HKS on. it totals about $10 in parts. There is a thread about it somewhere, i think mach3.5turbo was using it (could be wrong though). not trying to sound hostile at all, but just trying to show that it can be done. :)
EDIT: here is the link... it was mach 3.5 turbo, not blkzoomzoom. sorry bout that: http://www.msprotege.com/vbb230/showthread.php?t=47267&page=7&pp=15

Regarding blow through of the BPV, you can get around it by angling the recirculation hose upstream from the turbo. I beleive this has been done in most dual BOV/BPV setups.

For $220, you can find a greddy type S on ebay, it shouldnt be a problem...

If you don't want hassle or problems, recirculate some of that air. BTW there is no BOV on the MSP stock, there is a BPV (bypass valve or diverter valve). If you search around this forum you will find so many threads about BOV's and BPV's it will put you to sleep. This topic has been beaten, so I am sure you will find enough info to aid your decision. Good luck with your MSP.

just so you know, you won't have air backflowing into the turbo even if you recirculate. the bypass valve is still a relief valve.

for $200, you can get pretty much any bov on the market. hks, blitz, greddy, apexi, gfb, turboxs, and forge to name a few. i forget how much a tial costs.

since you're not pushing mad boost, any bov will do fine. if you start pushing upwards of 15 psi, you may wanna lean towards the hks or blitz.

soundclips, while not of an msp, can be found at www.blowoffvalves.com. they'll sound the same on any car, however the loudness will somewhat depend upon the amount of boost you're pushing.

The best working BOV on the market is the HKS SSQ, because it will not leak under boost/part throttle.
