Where to order a Cobb SRI?

Should I order it through Cobb directly, Protege Garage, or SU?

Cobb has it for $175, PG for $179.99 (not sure why) and SU has it for $175 but what's confusing is they have two versions - both have options for red or black silicone tubing, but the "SU edition" says they add 5 ply silicone tubing to compliment the cobb kit. I'm completely confused.

Hell, I was gonna order a few t-shirts while I was at it, just wasn't sure who'd be better off giving me some kind of discount for bundling a few purchases together. I wonder if I can get Cobb to toss in a shirt for free?

josh @ cobb on the other forum has been saying its going to be about 6-8 weeks until they get more from their manufacturer, apparently they ****** a batch up. i've been waiting for mine since april... and will be waiting a few more months i guess.

I wonder how they ****** a batch up. At least that explains why there has been such a long wait for these things. I got mine through total luck.

I was confused at the SU version too, or they just sell the hoses, does that mean you could get the maf housing and filter by themselves somewhere else?

The air straightener fins in the MAF adapter were botched by the manufacturer. It got so bad that COBB dropped them and had to find a new one, so that's why there's a delay.

The COBB SRI's that Street Unit sells are the exact same, except you get the option of having the silicon tube in red or black instead of the standard blue. It's just cosmetic.

You can pre-order if you want, but I'd just wait until one of the vendors has them in stock again and jump on it before they sell out within an hour.

So cobb dropped the manufacturer of the MAF adapter producers? I wonder how bad the parts were or what problems it was causing. It must have been a big batch to cause delays for this long. I wonder how some distributors are getting some in, like how I just bought mine.

Thanks for the response, that clears things up a little bit for sure! Do you know if the filter is still going to be the traditional Cobb blue?

As far as I know, yes. The cotton part of the filter turns white/grey over time, but the mesh stays blue.

I checked with around 6 or 8 vendors over the last week, everybody was out and they all had the same story, weeks......

At least I'll be able to get a black tube though.

Weird that these are out of stock so frequently. And some of the waits I am hearing are just brutal. I ordered mine in late may and got it early june. And that was a wait I wasn't willing to endure. They really need to get a handle on their supply chain. Thats just rediculous.

I wonder how many customers cobb lost due to the shortage. Its such a hot product there are a lot of people waiting but I have to assume some went other routes. Major supply chain issues like that are usually hind site, you never notice a potential problem until its too late.
