Where is the EGR valve on the MS3

I`m getting an intermittent CEL for "insuffucient egr flow" or something to that effect.
I checked the warranty and the EGR valve is only covered for 24,000 miles. What kind of bulls*** is that? They checked at the store and there is no aftermarket replacement available for it yet. This means I`ll have to pay stealership price for one if I can`t get it working by cleaning it.
Has anybody had to remove theirs? What`s involved in getting to it? For that matter, where is it?

lol at the wastegate comment. here is a pic of part of the EGR valve, the tube that takes exhaust gases back into the motor. get under the car and look by the turbo and block and you will see it. those plates next to it are what you need at this point, an egr block off plate. you can remove it if your state doesnt have smog laws....

You have to drain the anti-freeze to pull the EGR valve? Damn what a PITA.

Oh well. Now I know. Thank you gentlemen. I appreciate the assistance.

Is this some kind of a joke?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think that is an EGR valve! It's the pipe leading from it ....

It's obviously not the EGR valve (not even close).

How is it possible for someone to have so many mods and not know what an EGR valve (engines 101) looks like?

Well the tube he posted is the exhaust tube that routes the gases back to the intake manifold. Though not the actual EGR Valve it would lead you to it.

I had that cel I beleive and took it in to Mazda and there was a flash that was needed, SM wanted $100 for it, (not covered by warranty) , unknown to him the tech who I have befreinded did it off the record while I was talking to the SM. Might give your dealership a call with the coed to confirm if it is the same one.

sorry but i didnt have a pic of the valve, the op wanted to know wtf it was and where its at so i posted a pic of part of the egr system so he could find it. i edited my original post for clarity. sorry guys. as far as the block off plates, people have been doing it for a long time, it helps the motor run cleaner and better by not recirculating that s*** through the motor. its only there for emissions guys...

How can that work? I`m already getting a CEL for too little flow. What will happen if I block it with a plate?

if you block it, the car will run better/cleaner, i suggested this because you already have a cel so why not.

yes yes yes

Exactly what I thought. I figured if I took it off, I would see the valve.
yup. exactly.
