Where is the 2009 Mazda6 for North America??

Anyone have any idea when or where the new 2009 Mazda6 for NA will be officially unveiled?? The car has already been delayed by a year. The autoshow season is over and the car is supposedly going on sale by the end of 2008. I was originally under the impression that it was supposed to debut at the New York auto show. Where is it?

We have seen some spy pics of what seemed to be a production version, but we are still short on many details. Just wondering.
 
It's going to be unveiled within the next couple of weeks at dealership meetings across the country.
 
Strangely, and sadly, underwhelming

My $ 0.02:

$0.01: The current generation of the 6 really turned heads when it came out, and still does. This one, strangely enough, seems really vanilla to me. Let's see. It gets bigger, gets bigger motors, and more mainstream. Did I miss the press release? When did Carlos Ghosn take over Mazda?

$0.02: Will they please announce the Speed variant already? In a wagon body preferably!
 
Mazdaspeed versions typically come out late in the product life cycle here in the USDM.
 
they're not out stateside yet? i saw one in london maybe 2 weeks ago. as it was pulling up i was confused as to what it was. looked like a new toyota or something. when i saw the mazda badge i realized it must have been the new 6. was..... kinda ok. i just dont like how big its gotten though.
 
I'll believe it when I see it, given how many things the press got wrong with the 2nd gen Mazda 6 (EUCD platform, Duratec 3.5 vs MZI 3.7, etc.).

Trust me it will be out, I was telling a few people about a mazdaspeed6 coming out in 2010, before any press releases were even issued.... I can't tell how I know... lets just say I had an insider's secret ;)

It does pay to know people. (this is true in regards to getting a job or finding out about things before other people, like oh say... you have a buddy working at best buy and you can find out when the WII comes in stock and when it will be for sale before the average consumer does).

As for the Regular Mazda6... WTF?!?! London already has a sedan 5 door AND wagon available?!?!

I hope they bring the 5 door here. If they do my GF is going to trade in her '05 v6 for the '09 v6.... or at least that's what she was saying, LOL

ME.... I would keep my speed6 since I'll have it paid off before 2010, and I'd buy the new speed6 as a daily, and have my current speed6 be my mod car ;)

I just, REALLY, REALLY, REALLY, REALLY, REALLY wish they would make the mazdaspeed6 a twin turbo v6... to distance it from the likely next variant of a speed3, they need to STOP giving those cars the same engines, and start distancing them apart. Give the speed6 enough power to compete with the evox and sti stock for stock, and let the speed3 play with the civic sis, rsx-s, and 350zs :(

as for that , we might have some , idk cant tell ( also ill get next weeks ad for a free boot up c.d from geek squad if you care to trade (boom03) )

any way i agree both cars are in there own category , speed 3 is civic , 350 z srt4 , while speed 6 is lexus,bmw , infinity , etc level

but i would like mazda to perfect there 4 bangers or at least do what evo did with that 4 banger and turbo charger 290 something horses ( very well done )

mazda speed 3 is a great car and you cant ask much more from it but mazda really needs to start taking different routes with both speed 3 / 6


speed 6 , make it a lighter , a bit smaller , keep it awd , if its a four banger make sure its not a 2.5 making 280 , try inovation a 2.5 making just over 300
if its a v6 twin turbo , pull more then 350 horses i wanna see some mazdaspeed cars beat my brothers 335 i

speed 3 , should get a bit more power , as far as awd or rwd , its a tough one

Dude I don't need to ask you when the Wii comes in, I can find out for myself (rofl)

As for your ideas, I like them all, except a few. Make the Speed6 smaller?

Than people like myself and your big ass aren't going to feel very comfortable in it. I like it the way it is, keep it that way.

as for the speed6 being a 4 banger, meh... I'd prefer a v6 2 more cylinders will make it easier for those who want to mod and put a bigger turbo like a gt35. the Current car spools WAY too late with even the gt3076, with the GT35r you'd probably not start spooling the turbo until 5.5k - 6k rpm, and redline is already at 6,750. No thanks.

more cylinders = more exhaust gases to spool a bigger turbo (yippy)

and making the speed3 AWD would be killjoy. Even with less power it still might be comparable to the speed6, if they end up using the 2.5L in BOTH cars. (unless they went the TT v6 route for the speed6)


oh BTW, they sort of are doing what you said about the Evo.... the new speed6 is "supposedly" slated for 280+ hp with the 2.5L turbo (thumb)

I'll believe the power numbers when I see them, but I'm 100% they're building a speed6. I think Mazda has been paying attention to the community and they MAYBE noticed, their speed6 line has the potential to be the next best thing.

well from what iv read the new 6 is bigger then the camery , and people liked the size of the current six , that was my point , kinda lol

any way for some reason i dont see a speed 6 with a four cylinder , just beucase its a more luxury car , but who says it cant pull off some nice numbers and performance with a four banger : D , the thing is i know mazda can pull more out of a 2.5 then 280 horses , even if its with a bigger turbo !

mazda is not going to let other auto makers bring out nice cars and stay in the shadow , the speed 3 is king hatch and speed 6 was never really noticed as much as most wanted , mazda should and looks like , there going all out with the new (Speed)6 , looks a bit better in a different sense ,and the interior is not that bad .

i agree with a new speed 6 being made , they had over 2 years to study ,test , and innovate the car : D
