my sister bought a protege last year from Rosenthal Mazda on rt. 7 by tyson's corner mall. the sales dept, and the service people have been awful to her.

Rosenthal, Ballston. TOP NOTCH work.
Absolutely top-notch.

I agree. But for warranty work, or insurance repair work, anything you would get for free, Rosenthal cannot be beat.

All other work I perform myself, not that this car needs any real maintenance. Once the warranty expires, I will be doing it all myself. And to hueman, most car work, esp on a simple 4cyl w/ a roomy engine compartment like ours, is easy...minus the starter. The starter looks like no fun. :(.

Performance Buyers in Chantilly, VA is also good for aftermarket installs..
but Rosenthal in Ballston is about 2 miles from my house.. :)

this is for my sister, who is about as technically inclined as a piece of wood. she didn't even know she needed to get her oil changed...

and as far as rosenthal mazda goes, i was referring to the one on rt 7 by tyson's corner... the one connected w/the nissan dealer. they've been awful to her.

she lives right by the rosenthal mazda dealer in ballston, but she had a bad experience with their sales department as well.

she just needs a place that she can get her warranty work done, any services and things like that. i'd try to help her out as much as i could, but i really don't have time, energy or tools to work on her car :(

thanks guys!

in my experience with the Rosenthal Arlington/Ballston dealer's service dept, they are decent enough to deal with. Just make sure you tell them exactly what needs done and do not get talked into doing extra things that aren't necessary, and they shouldn't give you (or your sister) too much trouble.

my experience with dealers is, don't mix the sales dept with the service dept, they ususally operate independently of each other, the behavior of one do not necessarily reflect the behavior of the other.

talk to Brian Lawless at Rosenthal Arlington's service dept, he was up front and thorough with me when I dealt with him to have my RX-7 worked on.

btw which service adviser did you deal with at Rosenthal Tysons? I dealt with Steve Miller when I had work done there, he was OK, very up front with me and didn't try to trick me into paying for extra stuff and whatnot.

where do I get service work done... well, in my driveway of course. i have NEVER taken my car back to a dealer, and im not about to start now. i love being able to fix stuff, and have worked on quite a few mazdas in my time, so **** the dealers...(the ones in maryland are clowns anyhow)

You may also speak to Carmen at the Ballston Service department and tell them Brook Mumford with the red P5 recommended him. Good cat.

I had my oil changed at the Ballston Mazda dealership about 2 weeks ago and today in the mail I got a letter today thanking me for bringing them my car and telling me that they hope I was happy with my service.. that was nice of them. I usually deal with a guy named Willie or Steve.

where exactly as I live nearby also.. maybe she can come out to our next get together. :)

ive had real good experiences with the service department at the tysons corner mazda. the guy i always talk to and deal with is on the orange team or squad or whatever its called haha. i forget his name but its a young guy, real cool. let me know if you find a better place though

I know hueman is looking more for a dealer. I have an RX-8, my warranty expired last year, any good ideas in the northern VA area, a good quality mechanic, decent with the prices.
