Where can I get the 'removal tools' for my Kenwood KDC-MP919 MAZDASPEED radio?

Apparently; I didn't get them with the purchase of my 'Speed. I am going to connect an auxillary cable up in the back for my portable iRiver iHP-120 MP3 player.

i think you can get them for like $3 from radio shack or other places that sell electronics. i thought i recall someone saying wal-mart sold them aswell. maybe not...........

Greg, you can just reach up behind the stereo through the glove box and push it out without the tools. You can also use butter knives. I hooked up my Sirius without removing the stereo at all. The aux input is on the side by the glove box and is reachable.

'Making it sound pretty easy, Britt! Did you remove the glovebox? And; if so, how? I don't want to be taking things apart the wrong way.

Greg, taking the glove box off is easy. Open it up and you'll see 2 tabs (one on each side) toward the top that keep it from opening too far and dumping everything on the floor. Push those inwards (warning: take everything out of the glove box first!) and it will open all the way. Once that's done, the left side of it is a plastic clip that just pops off (just like the little panel under the steering wheel) and the right side is just a peg that slides out to the left. It's hard to explain in words, but once you're in there it's a piece of cake.

I unstalled my Sirius the same way, but be warned - there's some SHARP pieces of metal behind the dash. I cut the heck out of my hands, wrists, and arms!

Oh yeah, I used the butter knife method to remove my radio when installing my gauges. Just pop the plastic trim off the radio and you'll see where to slide the knives in. It doesn't come out that far, especially without undoing all the wiring (and losing all your settings).

Great info, guys! Thanks much! Now; I just need to order that connector from Crutchfield (and the connector for my MP3 player), and I should be set to pursue it further. (thumb)

Yeah! That guy has some really good photos, too!
