Where can i buy factory single cd mp3 player for mazda 3?

yep, as wongpres said, Mazda changed HU featureset from 05 to 06. I am hoping that the chassis size, wire harness etc match up for the single disc HUs. Dealer said they would look into it for me. If not, guess I'll live, but would be cool to have the tone-age!

I'm disappointed in the way the information about these changes has been passed onto the dealers by Mazda. How are owners suppose to know if the parts departments don't? I'm thankful that these forums are aound to pass on helpful information...But I'm still not 100% sure if I could have put a 6 changer MP3 in my '05.

Physically I can't believe there is that much difference in dash fitment between the two years. Perhaps wiring harness is a bit different or trim panels , or? Yes, dealers should be kept up to date on changes between models. I would think that most people are interested in their cars audio, even the average person. Thanks goodness forums exist to fill in the blanks!

well...crap. Got an answer back from Mazda today. Module size is different between the model years, so the 05 unit will not fit.
God I need to set the bass control down to -4 for it just to be listenable.
Guess this car was voiced for rap-a-holics (hand)

Wow?! the module size changed. I hope they keep enough of the old stock around to keep the <'05 people happy.

So tell me how you like the Mp3 6 changer? I have not seen one yet so I'm curious. Is it an external magazine you shove in or does it store the CD's inside? Have you had any trouble with burned disks? Mine can read up to 10 sessions per cd.

sigh..I'm still waiting for it to arrive at the dealers. Guess it is on back order from Mazda.
The loader is internal to the head unit - no magazine. You just hit the Load button & start feeding them in when it signals you to.
I was pretty spoiled with the Sony HU I put in my Focus - was a single mp3 disc but read text
from the CD-Rs, had BBE sonic maximizer, 5 band EQ, etc. Even made the crappy oem Ford speaks sound darn decent. Was the best part of the car! LOL
Actually the Mazdas CD player sounds ok playing retail audio CDS, but lots of my discs are burned with mp3->wav conversions & you can hear the diff in sound quality. I guess the Sony deck was more forgiving. I am hoping that the changer may have a different/better sound

Why don't they make an single Mp3 DVD instead of CD?!

You know what would be really awesome? If they would make the Single Mp3 Unit read DVD's. I mean how hard can that be?

CD reader or DVD Reader, not much difference these days. You can buy portable DVD players cheap these days. Not everyone needs an LCD display in the car to watch "Scooby-Doo"...just give me a Single DVD Mp3 unit...Can you imagine putting over 4gig worth of MP3 in the car one once disk?

That would be so great...wouldn't take many disks to carry you whole music collection around in the car.....ahhh damn what agood idea.

Funny - I was thinking the exact same thing! I do that at work, burn about 50 albums worth of mp3s onto one DVD, then just play it thru my work puter using Windoze MediaPlayer. There a solid week or more of tunes, all one one lousy disc. that would be great if they'd roll that out, say a combi player (CD & DVD) rom player inside a nice HU. Wouldn't need it to play video either, just audio.

Dear Santa... :)

ah well... Dealer called, mp3 changer unit is in, set up to get it installed this Friday.
We shall see...

Brought the car in to the dealer today for the mp3 changer install. Quoted me 2 hours , but was ready to roll in one. Had them make sure they gave me what they took out.
Unit has one additional Load button, but otherwise no diff in appreance. Was happy to find that you can skip thru folders, but unit doesn't read text. so no tag id info is shown.

Gonna load it up this weekend & hit the Random button..lol

Make sure you check out the manual. I cant believe that it would not have the ID3 tags showing up....They all use the ID3's now and yours is brand new do..Maybe you just have to turn it on somehow....Mine works fine

hm..so you CAN see the tags? Do you burn your files in separate folders for each abum, or all tracks to root directory of CD-R?

..sigh... Just searched thru the manual, absolutely NO mention of the term "MP3" or any instructions in regards to using an mp3 changer. It only refers to it as a "CD changer" & only talks about playing "CDs".
Brilliant...

Dumb Dealer

So that means they installed the wrong player?! Man that is brilliant. Your part number for the MP3 deck should have been one of these. (Not sure which car you have)

BSOA-79-EGX -"With Trip Computer"
BSOB-79-EGX-"Without Trip Computer"

But what is really strange is that the '06 Accessories they ONLY list decks that can also play MP3. NO '06 decks play use plain old CD's. So that means YOU got an older deck....Which blows the theory that the HU have changed so much that decks are different...Ummmm...Keep me up on this ....I'm curious.

I have burned CD-R's and CD-RWs with directories and without. And they all work fine...And I've used Variable Bit and it plays fine too.

no no no...the deck is correct, it does play mp3s It's just that the 06 Mazda MANUAL has not been updated to the fact that it does do this, so no instructions on how to operate it, only for a standard CD only changer.
So your 05 single disc mp3 player DOES dispay ID tags on it's readout?

ok, well, I finally figured it out. Gotta use the Tuning knob, push it in & twisted thru the options & found that it can display parts of id tags. Won't even scroll song titles unless you manually twist the knob back and forth to see them, but at least it does it...

Good...I was confused I thought you meant that you could not get Mp3's to play and the manual had no mention of them so you had the wrong deck....Good to hear you have the right one.

And "Yes" the mP3 Tags show on my dash (Album Name, Song Name, File Name etc..)

Yeh I wish it would scroll automatically..My panasonic deck (that I installed in my old Altima) did it automatically. But the one thing that bugs me the most is when you switch CD's the display it goes back to the "Time and Track" instead of the display mode you already selected. Annoying

oh crap..haven't gotten that far yet but ...suckage. Also I see where you can forward thru mp3 song folders on a CD-R, which is nice....unless you have more than one disc loaded, then it just jumps to the next disc ,not the next folder.>sigh<
If I could do it all again, I'd have stuck with the included single cd player, & gone aftermarket for a better mp3-capable HU & the Metra adapter.
Oh well, live & learn...
