when to MODDDDD!!!!!!!!11

my dealer told me that if they installed it, most of the aftermarket stuff would be covered by warranty . Has any of your guys done that. It sucks cause i hate people working on my car, and this is the first new car so im stuck with a warranty.

I dont think ANYONE has had their car long enough for the warranty to expire yet. Seeing as how it comes with a 3 year warranty and the car has only been out for just over 2 years.

its modding that causes the warranty to expire, as in VOIDED

3 years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. There are plenty of people over 36k, I'm around 28 myself.

This just tells me your dealer wants to rip you off on install charges. There is no way that aftermarket items are going to be covered under warranty, aside from certain Mazdaspeed mods. For example, your dealer is not going to warranty a CPE turboback exhaust if a weld breaks and you get an exhaust leak. However, they'll most likely charge you $500 to put it on and if they can associate the TBE with any other failure and void the warranty on it, I'd be willing to bet they'd be very quick to do so.

I started modding about a month after I got the car with around 2,000 miles on it. This car is too easy to mod. If you're concerned about the warranty, just go conservative and get mods that are easy to remove if you have to, ie, I wouldn't do exhaust work (test pipe excluded), FMIC, ECU flash, big turbo, etc...

How long do you guys wait before you start after market stuff?

ah yes, the eternal Q: to be or not to be...i wanted the dealer to throw in a mazdaspeeed cai as part of the purchase, they started dicking around saying we'll give it to you for cost- which turned out not to be the case at all. so long story short, the cai was pre-programmed even before signing on the dotted line. then i found this wonderful forum, and my eyes were opened wide.

as i get closer to the 3 yr anniversary i'm starting to contemplate more drastic mods, but there are some i'd never touch- bigger turbo, exhaust...not to say they can't work, it's all part of my risk assessment. you have to draw a line in the sand if you want to keep the car a reliable daily driver. you guys are all incorrect, you order all of the aftermarket parts BEFORE you buy the car that you want, this way, you have the parts sitting in your garage before you bring the car home. i installed my coilovers with like 50 miles on my car.

I dont think anyone on the forums are able to wait until the warranty is up to start modding, even if its simple little things. I had my car a couple weeks by the time I found what I wanted and got it. Then I havent stopped modding in 8months.

Wrong. I'm on 18K and no mods. I'm happy with the car.

I asked my dealer service writer and they said as long as it didn't cause a problem, they wouldn't care. Of course, the converse is true as well.

If you have the mod bug, just do it. Chances are you won't wait until the warranty is up. (especially the powertrain warranty) This car is pretty fun in its stock form, too. Just my thoughts.

i wish i would of asked that same question when i got mine...when i got my car i went crazy buying things for my car.. the dealer where i got it were assholes .. they told me that my warranty was voided because i painted my rim "aerodynamic".. l0l... so they didn't want to do anything on the car.. then i went to another one that street unit works with and they fixed a couple things that was wrong wit my car

from experience...
it you can wait till the warranty it over to do anything big on the car
other then that
IF
you going to out a intake.. keep that stock parts just in case u need to take it to the dealer.
blow off
do the same keep the stock on

a little advise if you step on the car alot.. change the motor mount, sooner or later it will break.. street unit sells them at a good price....

so in other words when u put any after market parts on 1st think that if something happens to the car you can easily change it to stock so you can take it to the dealer....
but that also depends on mow much of assholes the people are there... i had to deal with that
i changed the color of fog lights and the plug went bad.. because i changed the color.. warranty was voided...
i mean i cant complain because it if wasnt for street unit and the guy that works there i would of had to pay 600 for an axle and more for the gas pump

so just think carely before you do anything to you car

just some friendly advise......

"would've"

if your warranty was voided because you painted your rims then you need to go back there and tell them to kiss your ass. it wounds like they are trying to scam you bases on the fact that you are a woman. did they offer to change your blinker fluid too??
