How long do you guys wait before you start after market stuff? Do alot of you wait for the warranty to expire?

I usually drive it stock for a week before the first mod goes in, but that's mostly because it takes time to decide on a mod, order it, and wait for the shipment.

3 options imo

1) Do whatever you want and pray your dealer takes care of you (or if you dont care about warranty)

2) Most popular: Stick to bolt on mods that can be removed if necessary

3) Wait till warranty is up. Most people get bit by the mod mug before this however.

If you really want to mod I would stick to easy bolt ons at first. These can be swapped and rarely cause serious problems. Just remember to enjoy your car. I know i used to be crazy for power but now I just enjoy what I have. Much better experience.

I waited about 4 months before my first mods.

I dont think ANYONE has had their car long enough for the warranty to expire yet. Seeing as how it comes with a 3 year warranty and the car has only been out for just over 2 years.

its modding that causes the warranty to expire, as in VOIDED

I waited about 3 weeks and im just going to stick with bolt-ons, being that I got an extended warranty plan. My first mod was the Corksport MM inserts.

I dont think anyone on the forums are able to wait until the warranty is up to start modding, even if its simple little things. I had my car a couple weeks by the time I found what I wanted and got it. Then I havent stopped modding in 8months.

How good are those Corksport MM inserts? Worth getting?

Bit of a pain in the ass to install compared to the trz poly and feels stock compared to the trz as well. If your scared of vibrations go with the inserts otherwise just buy the trz.

i agree. the trz mount really is, i feel, the best bang for the buck mod you can bolt on to the car.

I don't want to modify at all but I am starting to believe an aftermarket tranny mount is neccessary

the motor mount and shifter bushings are probably the two best mods I've done to this car and wont void any warranties. Also the cheapest at $100 and $30 respectively.

Waited one month and got the CS mm inserts. The bug has got me and the only thing that stops me now is my cash flow.

Anyone know which one would be better, despite the big difference of the money and the actual location of the mod:

TRZ Engine and Transmission Mount Set or CorkSport Motor Mount Inserts

I suppose I could get both? haha

You pay for what you get, the TRZ does a much better job than the inserts but some people think this is a luxury car or something and cant stand some added vibrations and will settle for the inserts. I've ridden in cars with both and prefer the TRZ, like most mods its a matter of personal preference. The set will do even more because its the motor mount and trans mount, I cant speak for the trans mount because I dont have it yet but it seems to get good reviews.

I waited about 1000 miles because that is how long it took for me to find this forums and the additional time to wait until the CS MMI to come in the mail. I have not ridden in a car with TRZ but as CWPspeed3 said above I hear they do a better job and I don't care about extra vibrations, wish I would have gotten them. Like others, I am sticking to the bolt ons and thus can take them off if needed. Just remember to enjoy the car, thats why you bought it right? If not you would be rollin in a prius.

I'm not touching the recall bolt as long as I have a warranty. If it pops they might try and say I tampered with it or the mount is not Mazda approved.
