when can we expect 2017 CX5 info and release date?

;)
Yeah, Car and Driver is talking about "New Cars for 2016", but the wording seems to reference to 2017 CX-5 as it qualified new CX-5 as having "minor trim changes" only.
Bad wording by CAR and Driver, I can see how it might be confusing. All of the things listed in the article were for the 2016 model year cars, not for cars that will be released in the calendar year 2016.

The 2016 CX-5 already received the "minor trim changes" and "headlights, grille, and taillights also get nip and tuck." listed in the article.

Here is the Car and Driver article that was written specifically to the 2016 CX-5 updates and changes.

Still no word on any changes or updates for 2017 CX-5

Are you guys referring to the U.S. 2017 or the international 2017 model? The U.S. versions seem to arrive later. For example my U.S. 2016 Mazda6 was manufactured in November or December 2014 and I purchased it April 2015. Other countries already had this refreshed Mazda6 as a 2015 model for them. Possibly in 2014.

Confusing huh?
At least on CX-5, it has been kept up the upgrades between US version and world wide. The refresh made to our 2016 CX-5 in the US was applied to 2016 CX-5's in most other regions too. Some region may called it 2015 MY, but as least the refresh happened about the same time at beginning of this year world wide.

The magazine says new CX-5 will receive "minor trim changes". It's definitely not talking about refreshed 2016 CX-5! I think Car and Driver is talking about all cars that will be released in the calendar year 2016 in the article, hence the title: "New Cars for 2016".

I would really find it odd that Mazda would do all those updates, and then change all the same things again for 2017?

Tomorrow at the autoshow, the 2017 CX-9 is released. I think we may get some more clues with the direction of the future CX-5 at that time.

Wishlist for 2017:

- Support for iOS CarPlay and/or Android Auto
- HUD
- Paddle Shift

On Chile we have already ALH, RCTA and LKA, but we haven't SBS. Hope one day adds this feature too.

meh, I hope they don't add the HUD. Seems like the first thing that would break on a vehicle. Also I can do without a paddle shifter. They're too big and obstruct your hands while normal driving. The slap shift works just fine imho.

Being from Canada I would like to see better heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and windshield wiper de-icer. Maybe memory seats and a power lift gate.

I received this reply from Mazda customer service:

"Thank you for contacting Mazda and inquiring about the 2017 Mazda CX5.

Mazda has not provided any details of when the 2017 Mazda CX5 will be available, we don't have any updates or changes that will be made at this time. The 2017 CX5 won't be at the Detroit Auto show in January. I have provided the link to one of our websites that you can always check for updates on the new vehicles that will be coming out. Feel free to visit the web page.

The heated steering wheel on my 2002 Maxima... I definitely miss that feature.

Has never experienced how effective the "heated" steering wheel was. When we special ordered our BMW 528i, we selected 'Sport Package" which came with sport suspension, black window trims, and a three-spoke "M" Sport steering wheel. Unfortunately that prevented us to get a "Winter Package" which had heated steering wheel and HID headlight washers.

Nissan Maxima used to be everywhere but now I hardly see one. Is it still in the Nissan lineup?

It would warm up within a minute and I would often find it too hot to comfortably hold onto after about 5-10 minutes. It only had one setting. That time was all you needed though.

They still sell the Maximas but I don't really follow them anymore. I did read there was a stop sale order on them over the summer for a fuel related issues.

There appears to be a redesign out for 2016.

I had one of the boxy Gen 2 models as a kid...an '87 SE with the adjustable suspension and it's 152HP 3.0L V6. Unfortunately not the 5-speed manual on mine.

Ha! What the difference 30 years can make for the Maxima! Nissan can really design some beautiful and unique cars since Renault took over and added some European flavor. I thought Nissan made a mistake by dumping Maxima nameplate and favoring the Altima as Maxima was so popular like Camry and Accord back to the old days. Of course now Altima is growing to the size of Maxima and there is no room for Nissan to have the Maxima in the lineup.

Nothing can beat driving a stick shift with a V6, even though it has only 152HP!

Yeah... they have been fighting the need to keep the Maxima around since the 3rd gen Altima came out in 2002.
